When on or near the lineside it is not a good habit to get into to rely on a timetable. If fact you should never rely on a timetable for your own safety...

Please dont take this as a critism but as a kind word of advice...

You should always be vigilant when on or near the lineside. Take last years ASG. A non timetable light engine move with 4936 to replace the Duchess.
If you have done your PTS exam, it is part of it of the exam to be vigilant.

I didn't said anything about relying exclusively on the timetable - but awareness of it is certainly a pre-requisite for keeping safe while lineside. Yes, unplanned movements can, and do, take place and any sensible person would always be vigilant for such an eventuality while on the lineside. But the timetable does at least tell you what the railway intends to do on any given day, and the WTT tells you far more about what planned movements ought to happen, and when than the public timetable does.

4566 is not necessarily due to face south though, SVR Online suggests the WTT has it facing north.

But it always says that on it.. even when it is sold! Why are they not selling it then if they do not want to give it away for free?

My opinion on the WTT matter is on the other thread.
In other news, the forecast suggests that the coming weekend might be more wintery than the previous couple with some showers and feeling colder. Oh well, I'd better bring a coat then. As long as it doesn't f***ing snow!!

I have to confess to a considerable degree of confusion about 4566 and 1638. They are due to be facing south acourding to the SVR website and Martin has confirmed that they are currently facing south and will be for his photo-shoot this evening. However, others have stated that the WTT says they are meant to be facing north for the gala. Does someone have a definite answer - or am I missing something obvious here?

As the public timetable for Friday and Saturday is identical, it would be very much appreciated if those who will be at the SVR gala tomorrow (Friday), could find the time to report their observations about non-published movements, stock rosters and the like here for the benefit of those unable to attend until Saturday.
    Cheers,

Can anybody help me with finding Little Rock, as seen in this picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/ap_johnson/11971296956/. Is it where I have put the X on the map? Following the road up the hill out of Hampton Loade station along to where it meets the bridleway and just following that, will it take me to Little Rock, or..?

I tried to explain in an earlier post on the other thread (regarding its availability) that this information has been available for a couple of days now. It is a shame you didn't take note of this as if you had, you'd have had the timetable sooner!
