Getting away from the GWR a little now at Didcot...

 

Does it matter? If it brings the punters in then it's a win, win situation IMO. I rather like the idea of a BR blue gathering. Clashes with a planned main line tour but if 34067's not mended in time I may not do it and will head to Didcot instead.

 

well yes it does really. BR blue has little to do with the BR era in reality, being so briefly used, let alone the History of the GWR.

 

That's a poor argument IMO. It's a valid if short lived part of BR's history and well done to those loco owners who are reflecting this. I presume you'll be picketing the gates at Didcot and protesting.

 

well, no, wont be picketing the gates as the camera angles from there are poor. I thought I'd picket the coaling stage,

 

Need something fresh and different to photograph and see sometimes.
Owners can do as they wish and if does bring in more people each livery change so that's what needed sometimes.
The GWR King was Blue don't forget.

Yeah but my point (which is only half serious) is that it is the GWSociety, not the BR(WR) society and they have in recent years moved towards the later fairly significnatly

 

But the history of the GWR didn't end on 31/12/1947. To tell the full story of the railway you have to encompass the BR(W) years. Former GWR locos, rolling stock, infrastructure and staff continued until the end of steam.

 

in that case, they had better build a few more replicas to bridge the gap between the Broad gauge and the Churchward era

Two questions.
At what times on Sunday is it planned to pose all three together?
Will the Heavy Freight Mob have their real ale bar open?

 

The bar won't be open this time as the weather is a bit to unpredictable this time of year and don't want to end up throwing beer away, it also allows some of us to enjoy the event from somewhere other than the bar, in my case on a visiting engine for the first time in ages (excluding Thomas).

 

Oh dear. A dry afternoon.

 

They are selling a bottled beer from the Heavy Freight Group in the cafe at tonights photo charter.
