If the railway has CCTV, then they have the time.
I'm sure its not the only street in Keighley with CCTV..
presumably once back on the road the registration plates were back on..

anyone walked the neighbourhood asking if they have CCTV around the time..

Scum. Utter scum. However, it seems to me that this was an awful lot of work & risk for thieves only looking to weigh in the metal. Isn't it more likely that these seats have been stolen to order? Fingers crossed for their recovery, of course.

Sounds as if they broke the benches up for scrap, but the expensive cast iron ends are now safe, and hopefully their van is heading for the crusher.

That is brilliant news and a great relief I should think to the railway.
Have to find a way to secure them down, as unfortunately there is some rotten thieving people out there that wouldn't give a tiddles for heritage as long as they could make a couple of quid for scrap.

Sadly, as is more or less always the case, they will get a slap on the wrist and sent on their way.

Police say the arrested man has been released on bail and inquiries are ongoing. So no-one yet charged, let alone guilty or tried.

I hope the railway take legal proceedings to cover other costs to put the seats back.
