Here’s my video, taken in the Glynn Valley, Hemerdon and near Westleigh, by the Grand Western Canal. I’ve also included a short clip of swans and their chicks on the canal.

We are in the same seats for the whole trip, including Stranraer, though not sure what happens when we swap trains between Kyle and Mallaig (same seats in opposite end?)

 

The only time the 47 was running after leaving Falmouth was in the platform at Plymouth whilst 5029 / 34046 were off the train being serviced. I got the impression that one of the steam crew drove the 47 into Falmouth then shut it down and switched to one of the steamers

 

Correction: Add 13320 between 326 and 99125. So the load is 10+POB(s).

Private Owner Brake. Official jargon for the Support Coach.

 

Thanks. I sort of guessed it must refer to the support coaches, but had never heard that term. "Private owner" is an interesting term, given that everything is PO nowadays!

I think it refers to the fact that although the train itself is privately owned, the Support Coach is somewhat more private in that it is owned by the locomotive owner(s) and therefore not intended for passenger use.

44932 up Filton bank on time. Load 11, no diesel on the back - 47746 went north 15 minutes earlier.

 

Nice footage. I particularly like the short sequence of 60021.

Good to see 44932 running unassisted, didn't see that happening. Now looking forward to seeing the 5 at Runcorn East and Carnforth. If anybody's lineside for the Scot tomorrow. We will be at Ulverston , Braystones , Parton , Workington and finally just south of Flimby, if all goes to plan. Weather forecast looks reasonably good.

 

44932 working hard but not exactly speeding along through Cwmbran; Llanvihangel should be interesting...

 

Ray knows how to get the best out of Swindon machinery, which lets be honest, can be tempremental if not treated perfectly, yet to have a bad run with him in the seat.

 

44932 over the top of Llanvihangel 10.40 sounding very nice indeed! Looked to be going well, only down to around 20mph it appeared.

 

Good ascent of Llanvihangel but took its toll on the timing as we were 15 late arriving at Hereford.
