Full credit to the crew taking the GB7 out of Bristol this morning. The '5' slowed gradually as it dug into
the climb of Horfield bank but settled down to a steady pace and kept it there to the summit. Well done. <BJ>

Oh I was going to Runcorn East as well, no point in two shots from the same place, so I'll head for my second option.

With the light winds Frodsham Hill would be a good one today. Was thinking of going there but it would be almost impossible to beat it to the Coast so just doing Leighton Moss today and 46115 crossing the Leven Viaduct tomorrow. Video will follow tomorrow afternoon.

The route seems to have altered, can anybody tell me the time that the train runs through Wrexham.

    Thanks,
    Bob.

After looking at the weather, Frodsham Hill is my second choice, will be heading out that way shortly.

RTT shows running 36 late approaching Shrewsbury. 8 minute stop there is now shown as 3, was due at Wrexham at 13.40 for a 7 minute stop, this has also shown as 3 minutes. Stops at Chirk and Chester also both reduced.

Long delay waiting just outside Shrewsbury waiting for a revised path. Just leaving now.

Excellent performance from engine & crew on the climb to Llanvihangel, seemed to have it well in hand, albeit, a wee bit behind schedule. Photos are cresting the bank at the site of Llanvihangel Station and on the climb out of Shrewsbury after the delayed departure this afternoon.

    Video later.

    Cheers

    Alan

Things don't seem to have gone quite so well today with a lot of time dropped even though it was a 60mph timing, but it is good to see that the Duchess was out on test around York..

Think there's a good.deal of sympathy for one poor little black 5 taking on the job, although housewives with black spotted washing from volcano of char may think differently. Black tablecloth here...

Black smoke suggests poor coal quality, obviously not Welsh ! That may be the problem ?

Still taken from video as she crossed Cefn Mawr viaduct, no video unfortunately as a plane which seemed to be following the train drowned out the sound, some you win etc. etc. S1580001.JPG

Complete disaster from Frodsham Hill, lot of silver birch grown up since I was last there obstructing most of the view. Then when she came into sight, just a faint trace of dark smoke, so no steam to help with position as she went behind trees and houses at the lineside. Will look at the footage but may not bother uploading..:(

Some superb pictures and videos of the GB on here. I had this excellent video sent to my YT account:

Around 37 seconds in to the video 34046's driving wheels lock up completely under braking and she skids for some distance. Will she be off for tyre turning again?

Some video sequences of today's leg along the North & West route, at Llanvihangel, hurrying past Dinmore and into the tunnel and Leaton Bank. Despite the delays, a cracking performance from the crew and 44932.

    Cheers

Having watched all the footage of yesterdays run and from comments like the above, Braunton appeared to be doing little or nothing most of the time, except maybe holding back Nunney... ;)

I interpreted it as Nunney made a lot of noise moving her own weight while Braunton went about her business of moving the rest of the train with little fuss. :p

Lads and Lasses; I don't really know todays route and inclines, but a class 5 with ELEVEN on seems a real challenge !. Sounds very promising from reports though, but any views on the performance expected with this load and obviously relied upon ??? Some great vids and photos....Pete

Or Braunton went about her business of slipping everywhere while Nunney saved the day? :p
