Does anyone have a hunch on what may be pulling the Skegness - Scarborough special on 17th May?

    WCRC is the operator..

    Thanks

Private WCR charter? If so, it's likely that there will be no info until it runs.

Cheers guys. I'd read the OP as more of a query than it warranted :(

It appears 45699 had a mishap with it's smokebox door handles as they were missing when it reached York and wire appears to be holding it shut.

Only to reach a suitable point for a proper repair. Probably into NRM for a set!
Not conducive to good steaming either as it's unlikely to be very air tight.

I would hope that, provided the fit is good enough to allow some smokebox vacuum, the vacuum itself would then hold the door tightly shut.

But I would still expect the proper handles to be replaced ASAP, and I look forward to hearing, in due course, what on earth happened to the ones she set off with.

Having been on the train the water stop at Milford Loop seemed to take overly long. From the carriages we could see people either side of the loco doing something but we weren't sure what. This is possibly where the dart was removed and the wire added.

The wire was still in place when we left Scarborough. After being detached at York, Galatea made a hasty exit back to Carnforth where I expect a proper repair is to be undertaken.

Lovely day for it today although it did rather put the tin hat on any exhaust displays.
