Wednesday was big day for the "Top Shed" lads as we did a trial fit of their ashpan assembly in the frames. A first time fit so well done to the team. With the continuing dry weather the tender body is being grit blasted and the inside of the water space needle gunned. Work inside the shed continues to progress towards putting the driving wheels back.

Inside the oil bath. All ready for the rewheeling of the chassis. One chain left to install but that doesn't go in until the main driving axle is in place.

I don't know if you've seen this already, but there's a nice drawing of it here.

Although the original crests have been presented to us by 92 Squadron RAF, they are too valuable to be carried by the loco. After restoration we had some screen printed crests made ut these did not stand the test of time. We decided therefore to have vitreous enamel ones made. The contract went to Stocksigns who turned out to be the direct successors to Burnham Signs who made the original crests for SR/BR. A nice continuation of history.

Yes. Almost a shame to subject them to the wear and tear of being on a loco.

If you build yourself 34110 I'm sure they'll oblige. You'll need artwork too.
