I have to miss the AGM today, so if someone could post up a summary at some point it would be very much appreciated.

    Excellent turnout
    Finances healthy
Boiler appeal after one month in excess of thirty thousand pounds, money still arriving from the SVR appeal
Both cylinders now at Cerdic ready for machining after stress relieving - Money in place
Crank pins going on wheels - Money in place
Membership increasing. March saw large increase
    Publicity officer, Chris Proudfoot re-elected
Riveting has commenced on rear end
Quotation sought for bunker fabrication - sponsor in place
Pony truck wheels to be cast - sponsor in place for two wheels - sponsor for remaining pair would be welcome
All in all a positive and relaxed AGM with plenty of applause for individuals and groups as has become the norm. I am sure I have missed some salient points and someone else will fill the gaps.

Thanks for the summary Gios, but one correction needed. The cylinders were cast at Cerdic Foundries but are now at West Somerset Restoration, Williton for machining.
Another pony wheel now sponsored, one remaining. :)

Just shows how little I know ! Thank you for pointing out the extreme level of my ignorance. Good job others are in charge !

You appear to find a sponsor quicker than electronic mail. Thank you to the sponsor - more good news.

Was in Bridgnorth Monday and was drawn to 82045 by the sound of riveting. Much work going on including riveting of a bracket to the frames. Standing between the frames operating a pneumatic rivet holder is not a job I would relish.

I wonder at what point the loco will find shelter in Bridgnorth shed/works or does it need treating to a temporary tent or similar structure before next winter is upon us?

    Hi Rob,

There is still no room for us at Bridgnorth, however being in full view of the public is not a bad thing! :D

Temporary cover is not on the agenda although the team put up a rain sheet for the day when necessary. We do need to keep the site tidy and in keeping with the surroundings (it is a conservation area) but one day in the not too distant future we will have to have cover - if only for security reasons. As soon as plans are afoot we will let our supporters know.

    Regards
    Barbara.

Perhaps Minty4371 could pull a few strings and arrange for 82045 to shelter under the 111ft wingspan of XH558. Always a bonus at wet air shows is the Vulcan!

Brilliant! I wish I had thought of that :D . I have sheltered from the sun under a Vulcan`s wing - never thought of getting 82045 under.............

Slight thread drift sorry! RAF Scampton 1981, before my time there. By 1984 they were pretty well all gone.

Mmm, nice idea - but wouldn't the fuselage and other wing tend to make it awkward for locos to run around their trains?
I suspect the slot in the side of the boilershop wall for the other wing to poke through might hamper their productivity a bit as well.
As for blowing the passengers off the end of the platform and knocking the windows out on the canteen when the engines are started up....

...or did you just mean hacking the one wing off XH558 and propping it up on a couple of strategically placed telegraph poles over the frames?

The 'brackets' were infact the spring hangers, all twelve of them. 72 cold rivets inserted into reamed holes in five hours, wire brushed down and given a first coat of undercoat. A record of some sort for the 'outside' team. Our man 'between the frames' operating the jammer is Flexible John. A man known amongst his other skills, for his enthusiasm and ability for getting into almost impossible positions to undertake this most important of duties. It is indeed an unenviable task, working between two frame plates which ring like a bell, whilst at the same time operating the jammer in somewhat tight spaces whilst the rivet head is formed.

The photo shows Vulcans shortly before withdrawal, representing all the then operational Squadrons; the 35 Sqn example is easy to spot but I can't identify them all. I think the 617 machine is far right. During my time at Scampton, the Jet Provosts of CFS were withdrawn leaving Tucanos and Hawks, and the mighty Bulldog!
