It is interesting to note that in reply to a question from Martin (Sidmouth), Stuart has replied that they are carrying on as before and that nothing was raised from the appeal.

That must mean that Stuart himself didn't actually contribute to his own appeal from his own 'group', of which he is 'Chairman'!!!

    Says it all really.

I think that probably refers to the J39, L1, Dean Goods etc where other people have started the group and then Stuart swoops in to 'help'

There's a difference though between becoming a part of a Society, and trying to be someone within a Society.

What Stuart needs to do is just become a simple volunteer, who gives his time, gets stuck in and helps finish whatever project.

What we've generally seen is him try to be the man in charge all the time, despite having no idea of what he's actually doing. If he did we wouldn't be talking about his umpteenth project, we'd be talking about the prospect of a New Build whatever it is was he first wanted to build.

Indeed, it isn't a noble quest to get XYZ built or restored but a power trip that'll find itself mentioned in the press and then dies quietly... There's no realist aims at the beginning and the fact that he isn't even willing to put any money in himself says alot. To be honest I think the best course of action we could do with the next hairbrained scheme is just to deny it the oxygen of publicity and let it die off.

Stuart never has money as l dont believe he has a job. He was supposed to go to NRM once but couldnt afford the train trip. Obviously Minehead to york is too expensive if your only on job seekers.

As has been said Stuart will not join an existing society as he wont get straight into the "board meeting"

But as the events manager of the LMS Patriot project i will offer Stuart the opportunity to volunteer for us. And as we attend Minehead with our sales stand he wouldnt need to have money to get there. The offer is there if your reading this Stuart.

If your reading this Stuart, this could be the first and best step you could make...-and maybe beyond the hobby too.
(I have built my whole IT career, travelling worldwide on a bedrock of what I learned as a volunteer as a youngster 20 years ago)..even now if I get a problem I don't understand.. I contextualise it in a railway perspective to make sense of it..invariably a solution follows.
Didn't have Facebook, and never sought a "position in office" to learn the skills I needed, just watched, listened and annoyed those around me, to learn what I know now.

If I ever went to politics, forget national service I'd suggest everyone spend a certain amount of time volunteering in a community hobby which they enjoy to see what they get out of it.

Take them up on the offer !

Well, he's certainly got that part down! I think he's rather overlooked the "watched [and] listened" part, though! :)

I would agree, but then you get Heritage Rail Mag encouraging him, by wishing the group well.
Obviously they haven't done their homework and ignored the true facts as there never has been a so called 'group'. As we'll all aware it's all just one persons power trip!

I see the Class 22 people bemoaning that hundreds of people have joined there FB page but only a handful actually joined the Society. FB isn't the way to go about creating a new Society, the traditional way (ie graft) is the way

Yes i saw this on Facebook the other day. Was wondering how long it would take to get on here. Maybe he will be too busy to think about railways now then?

Yes , but don't share your life on social media for all too see. Privacy starts with yourself .

Perhaps also but why can we not congratulate a forum member on a piece of good but life changing news ?

True, but there was no need to paste a screengrab (I note it has now gone) and regardless of the privacy settings that Stuart uses for his FB personal page it is a bit unnecessary to comment on postings from that on this forum which then offers further scope for a snide comment or two at his expense. Yes, the members of this forum (including me) have not always had the same vision/viewpoint as Stuart for his projects but it is one thing to discuss a group page he has set up, another to bring his personal life in to it.
