Well, one engine that definitely won't be there, the U boat was out and about on a mini charter this morning ( mixed rake I believe)......................... I think it may have become a mini mini charter as the heavens opened at Ropley just after 8 this morning and did not stop until gone 10!

Brilliant news about the Manor. I may have to visit for all 3 days.

The visitor numbers were not great for that event which was a real shame as it was very good. Some great combinations (73096+92212 was excellent) and you could easily avoid either the steam or diesel trains with the intensive timetable whatever your preference. I attended it and couldn't believe how quiet it was. I think there were some other Steam Galas on the same weekend which didn't help the visitor numbers.

Roll on the October Steam Gala though. One of the best line-ups they have come up with. Lets hope the Weather behaves!

I just wonder if they will run all the home fleet or will they select different locos to run on different days? A big shame 31806 won't be there. Nice to see 31806 in action today.

Just what I've been thinking too, Lee!

I'd hazard a guess, that at least one of the home fleet will miss out each day. possibly in light steam in the yard as thunderbird....... and give a chance for the visitors to shine, with plenty of solo workings and the odd double header, as that seems to be what people want, and worked well at the Spring gala!

Now we just need to start guessing which of the guest loco's will face London, and which will face country..........

If they run too many of the home fleet that will either mean double heading and/or limited solo runs behind the guess locos. At the Spring Gala they ran 7 locos and had 1 spare.

With 5 visitors and presumably 92212 in action (as it is also owned by Jeremy Hosking), the only beneficiary of a decision to use any further members of the home fleet will be the local coal merchant.

Just had this e-mail from the MHR:

"Our Autumn Steam Spectaucular is all set for a Great Western Railway theme, with guest locos Manor Class No. 7812 Erlestoke Manor, Castle Class No. 5029 Nunney Castle, Hall Class No. 6960 Raveningham Hall, GWR Tank 4270 and Britannia Class No.70000 Britannia renumbered as 70025 Western star especially for the event! We are hoping to add one more loco to the lineup and tickets will be on sale soon!"

They are really excelling themselves this time as there may be another visitor added to the line-up (6023 perhaps?). Six visiting loco's will be very impressive.

Must be entering record breaking territory to get 6 in for a preserved railway gala.

I guess the perennial demand for a B1 isn't really in keeping...

    Err, don't think so...................................

It really is a case of "watch this space" or more correctly the MHR website!! ;)

IF they get a n other visitor, then I think people really will be surprised................ :)

Hopefully its GWR related so it goes with the rest of the visitors. Wonder what the odds of Braunon appearing for a third gala in a row
