    First Attraction to be announced.

    Knotty Coach 28 is to be dug out from the depths of Cheddleton MPD, and placed on display in Cheddleton Bay Platform all weekend.

    The NSRC (CVR Supporting Charity Body) has started an appeal to restore the vehicle, with the proceeds from their yearly raffle for 2014 going towards the appeal too. Members of the NSRC will be onsite to give information on the coach and the planned restoration.

    The official press release;

    Anything Goes Gala 21st & 22nd June 2014

    Back by popular demand is the Anything Goes Gala that will feature all home based locomotives hauling services between Froghall – Leekbrook and up the steeply graded line to Ipstones Loop. This section of line features 5 miles of gradients ranging from 1 in 40 – 1 in 59 posing a stiff test to any locomotive.

    The home fleet set to feature at the gala are;
    · Ex NER N7 No. 69621 (on long term loan courtesy of the East Anglian Railway Museum)
    · TKH Polish Tank No. 2944 (subject to completion of major overhaul
    · Beyer Peacock No. 1827
    · Class 33’s Diesel Locomotives No 33102 & 33021
    · Class 104 DMMU

    The gala will be one of the last opportunities to see N7 No. 69621 in traffic prior to its impending withdrawal for major overhaul and one of the first opportunities to see our resident TKH Polish tank locomotive No. 2944 in traffic following major overhaul after its arrival at the railway in May 2013.

    Additional Attractions

    LCGB – “The Great Eastern Suburban Rail Tour”
    The last train of the Gala will feature N7 69621 re- creating the “The Great Eastern Suburban Rail Tour” that was hauled in 1962 by a particular N7 locomotive numbered 69621! This was one of the last trains that the locomotive hauled before withdrawal by BR and therefore it is quite appropriate to recreate this given the locos impending withdrawal for overhaul. This will be the only opportunity to see 69621 tackle the gradient to Ipstones Loop unassisted over the weekend. http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/60s/620428lc.html

    Knotty Coaches
    The CVR is resident to unrestored Knotty 4 wheeled coach No.28 and in conjunction with the Knotty Coach Trust and the North Staffordshire Railway Company one of recently restored Knotty coaches No.61 will be visiting from the Foxfield Railway and will be on display during the gala. The appeal to restore No. 28 will be launched at the event with a display stand and the two vehicles being on display at Cheddleton during the event.

    Beyer Peacock No. 1827 will be on driver experience course at Cheddleton bay platform, tickets can be obtained from the Cheddleton booking office.

    The locomotive workshops will be open during the weekend to view progress on the major overhaul of S160 No. 5197 along with the new machine shop and carriage shed.

    Full catering facilities are available at Froghall and Cheddleton with light refreshments also available at Consall and on both Cauldon trains.

    The timetable for the event and the online booking system will be on the website in advance of the event, please check on http://www.churnet-valley-railway.co.uk/events

    TKH no. 2944 has completed a day of loaded test runs hauling 6mk1s plus 33021 with no issues.
    It is a powerful loco and it also steams very well!

    The loco is now in the shed for final painting all ready for its debut at the Anything Goes Gala.

    Website restrictions. Try the following, think it's set to public;
    https://www.facebook.com/pages/TKH-2944-and-2871-support-group/571723202859477

    Also Timetable been altered slightly, as TKH air pump wont be fully operational in time for the gala.
    Public Timetable attached, hopefully the website will be updated to match soon.

    Some of the times allowed for loco changes at Cheddleton look rather optimistic, particularly 10 minutes from 11.47 to 11.57 to change from 69621+2944 to 1827+69621, unless the TT is wrong and the N7 will be the train loco on the inward working.

    Looking forward to my visit, but I'll not plan on catching a specific bus from Cheddleton to get home!

    Timetable wrong, N7 Train loco. Ooops! There has been plenty of recovery time built into the TT following the issues we experienced at the Steam Gala. Hopefully things should be a lot smoother :)

    Edited my original post now so that the correct diagrams are shown. TBF the Sunday did run a lot smoother at the WSG, but doesn't hide that Saturday did fall to pieces for us. Hopefully though this new timetable improves things.

    Knotty Coach 61 arrives Wednesday, sets being shunted Thursday, and then positioned Friday.
    If anyone about come say hi, been given the N7 Saturday & BP1827 Sunday.

    Courtesy of Mr Ross from Llangollen Railway, the headboard for our LCGB Recreation has been completed. Everything's set for the final train of the gala, which will see the N7 work solo up the Cauldon Branch, the first time this has happened on a public service train. All her previous solo runs have been on Private Dining Trains and Footplate Experience Courses.
