I'm so sorry that Richard didn't get what he wanted. Perhaps he should ask for a refund.

    Thanks for confirming that.
Don't get me wrong an engine facing this way is preferred when walking into Northdale or for many of the less photographed locations along the line.

Thanks to those who appreciated the photograph. Line side pass, membership, regular visits both photographically and tea room act as my contribution to the railway as well as donations to the shed shop . I won't rally to some of the other comments. Unfortunately I wasn't around in BR days but if the future is tender first running I will embrace it now as I do modern traction - one day it will be a rarity. I simply could not have pressed the shutter.
For reference the location choice had I had confirmation that it was the standard was from on high, somewhere close to captain cooks monument, train in landscape where it wouldn't have mattered.

Anyone travelling on these services be aware that the NYMR timetable is a fig mind of imagination.

The 1209 off battersby was late off grosmont and further delayed by watering the B1 arrived Whitby 20 late.

The return working is shown as arr grosmont 1420 dep 1445. Oh no it doesn't thankfully I checked rtt and it is booked to depart at 1440.

The NYMR should check their amended timetables more carefully. It's not difficult to update online gen.

That's assuming the Network Rail ban on steam working tomorrow doesn't apply to Battersby, of course.

Unfortunately the loco roster on the NYMR website is not always 100% accurate, and today was one of those days, with 44806 taking the place of 60007 and tender-first 75029 doing the Battersby runs again instead of 61264.

Lots of room for whinging once again!

Wonder what happened to SNG? Glad I didn't have the time to head over for another non-picture.

Just trying to get my head together after hearing on the main news on Radio Geordieland the shock news that a steam engine was seen running chimney first on the Esk Valley Line today.
fortunately it had several coaches and a Diesel in front of it.

    No mention of 61264 though.

Did it actually work the Battersby trains on any of the four dates advertised?

In case it is of any help on Friday evening (20-06-2014) 61264 (as 61034) and 75029 top and tailed the 17.30 from Whitby to Grosmont where they were replaced by 60007 for Pickering where I understand it was to take over the evening dining train.
