How long was the wait to get County of Essex to the train? I hope that the 8f failure was minor.
I think it is inevitable though that the K4 will be needed should 61994 show up in Carnforth. Who knows

It couldn't have been very long. According to RTT the train was 10 mins late into Hellifield and only 20mins down at Settle Junc..

That sounds like something to thank mobile technogy for in that the 8F probably soldiered on while they rustled up a replacement.

Pity Cameron of Lochiel didn't make it into preservation. These small, high power engines are a magnificent "get out of jail free" card to be able to call upon should some of the larger and more famous performers get into difficulty.

With a touch of good fortune the 8f repair will be straight forward. Just when you think things are going well.............

I know because for the first half of the year 46115 was doing really well and is having a good record of reliability. Finally after a couple of rough years too by the way.
    Lets see
2 test runs, 4 WCME, GB7, Cumbrian coast, MNR Gala I hope this continues

What surprises me about today is that the 8f has been a really dependable workhorse in the recent past. Hopefully this was just a hiccup. Time will tell.
