    Love the "on shed" shot.

Regarding next weekend: Is it definitely her final weekend? I remember with 73096's "final weekend" that she actually worked over the MHR after the farewell event as she appeared on the freight/goods train at the Members & Shareholders Day.
I wonder if she will be suitably turned out with a bit of chalk or white paint utilised on her front?
I am hoping to get down to the MHR next Sunday for a final run or two with the U-boat. It will be strange and a little sad that there won't be a U or N working over the Alps again after this coming weekend :(

I'm hoping the weather holds out for next weekend. With 31806 possibly finishing this coming weekend and 34007 Wadebridge also booked to work the other service train. Then we also have the RAT and Dinning train out this coming Saturday evening. With any luck there's another photo opportunity on Saturday evening from Wanders curve again.

    Very nice Sunset shots.

The MHR must now be expecting a large turnout for the U-boats final runs on Sunday as they have announced on their website that the Hampshire Unit will also be running an additional service.
So there will now be three trains in operation on Sunday : 31806 on one rake, 34007 on the other rake and the Thumper providing a third service.

    Thanks, Green Five! :)

Regarding the weekend, I wonder if someone will say which service's the U will be hauling each day - or will it be pot luck??

She was Alton engine last Saturday, which surprised me!

That would be handy but the MHR site hasn't mentioned anything about the last runs of the U. You would have thought they would have put something up by now to guarantee enticing visitors down for the day.
Of course some Southern Region devotees might be heading to Didcot instead as the T9 30120 is scheduled to operate there this weekend.

On the MHR FB page this has been posted about the future of 31806:

"We have no confirmation about 31806's future. I'm sure an announcement will be made when it is known for definite. In the mean time, we are enjoying her running on our rails whilst she is still with us."

it has now been announced by the swanage railway that the 3 mogols will be based on the line 31806 from August i believe with this additional motive power the railway will be less relient on SLL but could be exchanging one problem for another if they become the mainstay of the motive power fleet.

So the rumour mill has proved to be correct then!

I just hope for the Swanage's sake its on THEIR terms, and not JB's......... good luck to them, the loco's are well suited to the line.

They've got their work cut out dragging the N back from the dead, by all accounts its shot to pieces........

And so it is writ that this weekend IS the U's last in service.............................. I wonder when the low loaders are turning up at Alresford? Hopefully not while Hampshire Unit is away, we need photographic evidence......;)

Well the truth is out, it being the worst kept secret in the heritage railway circles!

My view is that its a good news story all round, the locos are moving to a certain future with the two out of steam to be restored soon, and the Mid Hants can finally move on and put this sorry situation to bed!

Only sad bit is I doubt we will ever see the N or these two Us running on MHR metals again!
