Not to forget according to the timetable on the website; 22nd June & 14th September – Vintage Car Rally

The Derbyshire Ford Enthusiasts Club will have on show a selection of their popular Ford Cars some going as far back to the 1980’s.

All will be on display in the picnic area at Rowsley South Station from around 10.00am onwards.

Normal timetable and fares will apply for this event.

The 1980's isn't that long ago, the 1950's is though!

i had a little chuckle too when i saw 1980s, probably will be people of our age whose first cars they really got to know were around the 1980s, most of my cars ended up being cheap tenth hand under a hundred quid cars from that period, shame as if they`d still been round now most would have been classic :)

Makes me feel prehistoric after 1980s Fords are referred to as "VINTAGE!"

Heard it's only going to Derby, then HRH transferring to a Vomiter or whatever to Matlock. Perhaps a Pacer? Methinks not.

A 4-car Meridian replaced the scheduled unit for the 09:20 NOT->MAT, HMQ and entourage got the 1st class car plus the adjacent std class as a 'buffer'. This change was shown in realtimetrains etc. (as DMU 125mph).
HMQ got on at Derby, transferred from Royal Train.
The Meridian (fairly obviously) returned as the 10:36 MAT->NOT even though this showed as a sprinter in realtimetrains etc.

Unrestored Zebedee has moved off to pastures new going to the Linconshire Wolds railway

    Mr Briddons shed

Now the footpath end wall has Ben concreted work has transferred to getting the meshing and shuttering ready on the trackside ends for a final pouring in a weeks time.

    Ticketing between train and bus

Thanks to Dave Sharp for spotting this one.

    Recoveries and S&T

It's been a busy month with several recoveries on the cards. We've had a frames worth of locking and tappets donated which will help out with rowsleys locking

In a joint operation between the Churnet Valley Railway and Peak Rails signalling departments we trotted off to the western region yesterday to collect a lorry load of location cases for both railways, a fun day if not exciting as the truck kept us on out toes all day with minor nuisances :)

Thanks to the contractors at the Reading end we loaded the locs very quickly an the offloading wasn't that hard at Rowsley or Cheddleton thank goodness. And the locations come complete with all the links fuses and gear too so a great bonus.

David John and Ruth have been busy in my absence this week continuing with the painting inside of Rowsley box and other things

Visit by HRH Queen Elizabeth 2nd

The queen visited Matlock by train this week arriving by royal train into Derby, then transferring by meridian to Matlock Town station en route to Chatsworth, but of a shame she didn't continue via PR down to Rowsley on our line but that's out of our hands.

photo 1.JPG photo 2.JPG photo 3.JPG photo 4.JPG couple of images from the last few days, the concreting of the working aprons in Mr Briddons shed is complete following an early morning concreting effort from Andrew,Peter,Terry,Myself and the Cempump guys, next comes the blockwork around the walls then the sheeting of the building.

Also at Rowsley on the turntable D9500 has been displayed,in sympathy with the class 14 gala over at the East Lancashire Railway, the other class 14 14901 was out on passenger duties as well today.

I carried on today with some boarding of the floor in Rowsley box before installing some faulting monitoring gear at Church Lane recently recovered with a load of locations from Pangbourne, very usefull for faulting.

other than that we got very wet :(

Why have PR Sold Zebedee? Surely that's going to reduce their number of available steamers albeit Zeb needed an overhaul

She did need a lot of work before she would become reuseable again, the other j94( he says with his I don't know much about locomotives hat on) is coming along nicely in the shed, the pipe work in the frames is going together nicely and the cab and bunkers refitted

Yes I am an active volunteer
Zebedee needed a great deal of work to overhaul it, it's coupling and connecting rod brasses were very worn and needed replacement but the firebox was the main problem. It needs a new inner firebox. It has gone to the Lincolnshire Wolds railway.
