    >>>Those with a signalling disposition will know that in order to change a set of facing points once the protecting signal has been cleared and put back to danger, you are forced to wait two minutes before the lever can be pulled.....

Hmm, now I'm sure you're getting muddled! (Look up 'Welwyn Control').
Just proving I'm still awake and trying to keep up with developments.....:)

Now there's an idea! Having to wind a little handle for two minutes before being able to post a reply should take the edge of most folks' desire to use ********! type posts.

Don't worry if you don't understand this post - its a signalling thing between Ian, Chris and I. Just look up Welwyn Control if you are so minded.

    kind regards

I am sure it wouldn't be too difficult to check the facts by making more discreet enquiries, before posting on a public forum. What was the point of posting without knowing whether it had any relevance to this discussion?

No,its just signalmen at Stopemall Junction having one of those interminable discussions about the Block. Can they either pull the signal off, or caution us past it and get us get moving again.

More like a case of "mechanical politics" - it's all a question of pulling the right levers in the right order and at the right time - and waiting for the right bell to start the whole process.

    Ding ! Ding ! Round 1

We did have a 'fireless' loco on the line some years ago - Huntley & Palmer No.1 IIRC. Perhaps an opportunity for all the 'hot air' to be put to good use... (Where did it go?)

If we are following motor racing practice, we all know a few who should be black flagged.......;)

    Kind regards

I hope you've gone under rather than over - has been known :)

Just be careful that someone does not try to clip the ballot-boxes shut on Sat!

At a local election I was acting as a polling agent for one of the candidates. A poling agent can enter a specified polling station at any time to check for gerymandering and personation Personation is voting for someoneelse illegally, often.someone who has died. You can also witness the sealing of the ballot boxes between polling station and count. Asking to witness the boxes being sealed had the rule book out and eventually they agreed I was right. Given what has been said on this thread I fear Robin will have her work cut out consulting said rules. Does the AGM have a time limit?

Welwyn controls have nothing to do with signals and facing points.

I am not even certain ballot boxes are being used.Whatever they come up with, the voting process will take much time and good management with the numbers expected to be present.

..but a lot to do with "having to wait 2 minutes". AFAIK you won't find any time-delay on (say) 10,11,12,14 at BA for example.

That's nothing to do with Welwyn controls, that's just a standard time-out on signalling equipment. Welwyns are specifically about Absolute Block instruments and the ability to give another 'Line clear release'.
