It's had a spell in SR green so a change isn't such a bad idea IMO. Hopefully malachite next. :)

I was led to believe 30506 is going in BR black with the later style emblem on the tender.

Indeed speaking of [30]841 it ran in BR Green up to it's withdrawal and donating it's boiler to 825. 841 does/did have known problems with the frames and the lower section of the cab is still in somewhat fade Green at Grosmont. Ironically just after I bought my first computer I picked up a CD of assorted photos for use on a P.C. from one of these "cheap/bargain" book shops and in the "train" [as the selection of photos were in an A-Z list of subjects] section there is a photo listed as 30841, so I had a look and lo it was the S15 running round at Grosmont and is one of the few "British locos" in the train section

Can anyone confirm if 31806 is running this weekend at the MHR? According to the website it is but I have read on this forum, that might not be the case. I'd like to get one last ride behind it on MHR metals but I don't want to travel down there and find out.
I will be ringing the MHR too but I thought I'd use the power of this forum as it is normally well informed.

    Thanks

    Matt

Two locos are warm in the yard this evening, 850 and 31806, so expect them to be in use tomorrow. 925 and 850 are presently booked for next weekend.

Not if it rains tonight as advertised. If 31806 doesn't fail tomorrow it should be on for Sunday.

Sorry for giving duff info about today I read the roster wrong. Good news is I hear 31806 is now rostered for 22nd. So if all goes well 31806 should be out on 20th,21st,22nd,23rd and 24th. I just wonder if we will see 31806 out in August before the move to Swanage.

Nice to see 31806 on the Belle tonight. I did notice a few photographers around the railway getting their last photos before 31806 moves to Swanage.

Looking at the Swanage moguls page in the FAQs section it notes about the lease. Swanage have full control of the locomotives during the lease and they have first refusal if JB sells them, they also have the option to extend or renew the lease. http://swanagemoguls.com/faq/

31806 was certainly "worked" on her visit to the NYMR. Ok she struggled a bit on occasion on the banks, from what I've heard this is the hardest she'd been worked since preservation. Having said that the Swanage Guys seemed to have enjoyed themselves. And hopefully will consider another visit with one of the other Moguls or whatever locomotive based down there........

Can I tactfully suggest you search out videos of 31806 at the NYMR on YouTube, as I believe you will find them very interesting ;)

I managed to catch it heading north on the gala Saturday and thought it performed superbly on the north bound 1 in 49 (other gradients are available! ).

From photos I saw, she was taking seven coaches on the NYMR, which is a bit more of an ask than five on the Cauldon Lowe branch.

Either way, shows the all-round capability of the design, which like most Ashford products I've been on, has an exceptionally free-steaming boiler at its heart.

Indeed it was the caretaker crew from Swanage, who remarked that 31806 hadn't been worked so hard since she'd been preserved . Rather than any Moors footplate crew members.

Really?....... so the MHR doesn't count then? or has all that been "airbrushed from history"?....... we do have bits of 1:49 you know :Jawdrop: and I've been behind her on the freight when she has been 'driven'! :):):)
