The tours will be on the website a week today....Friday 25th July.

Nothing north of the border I am afraid...unless we overshoot Carlisle REALLY badly!

The plan is for the Lickey. It is a repeat of the tour 2 years ago...or was it 3? Anyway...the spec to be submitted says Lickey.

Full details on the website tomorrow (Friday) eve.

Well I have to say that is one of the best tour programs I have seen to date with a great variety of routes and locos. Now I just have the impossible task of deciding which ones to go for, though I think 4464 up the Lickey and 5043 round the coast have to be definite...

What a fantastic programme. Bittern up the Lickey and 5043 up Shap, and around the Cumbrian Coast are blockbuster tours in my opinion. Will be a touch choice to pick a tour to go on.

Indeed, a very interesting selection. Who'd have thought a Castle would fit around the Cumbrian Coast? And timed for sunset, too.
The Pannier jaunt to Stratford and Worcester should sell out quickly at £59 standard class. What time to you hope to assault the Lickey, Ben? My guess is that might be after dark at that time of year.
I see the Winter CME is running on 21st March, the same day as the VT trip with Leander, taking the same route. I predict large crowds at Scout Green, Birkett Common and similar places!

I have video of 60009 climbing the Lickey in about 2005 (I think), but she was banked by a diesel. I've an idea it was a crew training trip.

You can bet your bottom dollar, that both Lickey trips will take on the Bank at night. I think if it was a daytime assault on the Lickey, there would be hardly anyone on board.

Slightly diasapointed no Panniers to Melton Mowbray this Xmas, as that was the highlight of my mainline trips for 2013!

However will look to be with yourselves for November, though any idea which end the Enthusiast Class will be for this?

Love to do theA4 over Lickey too, but same weekend as Swanage ASG and can't do everything. Will try to reserve April 11th though, Castle over my patch sounds an excellent day out.

The one that caught my eye was the Cardiff trip next March. Since moving to Gloucestershire, I've covered every section of Std Gauge line line in the county (both Network Rail and heritage) except for Gloucester-Lydney (and on to Chepstow and Severn Tunnel Junction) Am planning to move some time next year and would like to complete my Glos track bashing before returning to Sussex, and what better way to do it than behind steam? (all the more so as I have never travclled behind a non-modified "Hall".)

Ben, do I have to wait untl you know what seats are left to book just from Gloucester to Cardiff and back?

Oh well, not a Sunday trip in sight. That'll save me some money.

I show that last time we departed Bromsgrove after taking water at 18:45...I imagine it is going to be roughly the same time.

If everything goes to plan, Enthusiast Class will be right behind the Panniers up the Lickey....but there is that saying about the best laid plans, etc...

Not quite on Subject but I am planning a trip for May 2015 and am wondering if you could dish up a Devon Banks trip with 5043 solo maybe on the Saturday the 16th. That date is not firm yet. My Dad and I would really like to do a tour with VT!

This has just been posted on Scarborough Flyer thread :-

In terms of the cancellation of the aforementioned, this might very well have resulted as a consequence of the fire risk, but other issues have since arisen which might be more connected to loco availability.
A posting has just appeared on the 'Lensmen' linesiders' forum to advise that Nos 46233 and 60009 are now banned from working over the Standedge route ... due to "gauging issues" and that further investigation by the informant suggested that the track, at a bridge where this is on a cant through it, is deemed to move each year. Even 'though, as he goes on to infer, the measurement train appears not to have been along that line for some time, Notwork Rail have added a ‘safety margin’ ... which is obviously a complete guess!

IF this is true, not been confirmed how will it effect Bittern on the Pennine Streak in November?

    Neil
