I also note that next week's trip is no longer advertised on the RTC web site. 27th July, 10th, 17th & 24th Aug only.

Let's hope that an agreement regarding the position of the diesel can be found prior to departure time at Bristol TM.
On a previous WSE it was an hour before the controllers allowed the train to depart. <BJ>

Nunney Castle appears to be a completely different beast since it's visit to 'The Works'. It will have no problem with Evershot.
Remember that the reason for diesel assistance is not due to it's lack of power but that the lineside vegetation is so very dry. <BJ>

So it's still speculation about Sunday is it? Can anyone from RTC confirm whether or not a diesel is being used? It would be good to know and would save carting the GPS, stopwatch and notebook around all day if there is.

Anyone who fancies a day in Weymouth via this route without having to suffer the purgatory of a sprinter, I can recommend the Weymouth Wizard, Sats only service worked by a FGW HST. Not steam I know, but novel all the same. :)

Likewise in Bath this afternoon, Nick.

I noted 33.029 passing the city at 3pm with 8 maroon coaches for tomorrow's tour. <BJ>

I would suggest a rain dance but that would upset the holiday makers down on the coast!!!!!

Well that probably kills off any chance of a 'steam only' train. Might have got away with it with 8 but not 9 over Evershot.

5029 has taken 9 over Evershot on its own before.

Sure, but that's her limit - nothing in reserve for "taking it easy because of the fire-risk". Actually, there's not much in reserve with 8 coaches, so I guess a DL is almost certain today with whatever load. And if there's a DL on the back, it will have to assist on Evershot and Bincombe, sadly.

25 mins late leaving Pen Mill, after having been put inside to allow 2O71 (Westbury - Weymouth), which was 40 mins late, to overtake. A noisy departure from Pen Mill, both from 5029 and 33 029. Evershot will have been no problem.

'Nunney' had a massive push from the class 33 diesel this morning while departing from Keynsham
but appeared to tackle Bruton bank on it's own. The diesel was just idling or taking it's own weight.

The train looked very nice at Upton Noble where large swathes of Willowherb adorn the lineside. <BJ>

Only the one shot from me today. Taken from Fishers Crossing, as Nunney accelerates away from the speed restriction at Dundas Aqueduct.
