The bowes railway will be open to the public on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August. Why not pop in and so all of our recent progress, guided tours of the site will be available as well as hopefully shunting demonstrations. Hopefully see lots of people there.

Good luck. Living in the south-west and not due to visit the north-east till late September, will there be an open day about then?

Hello John, we are open the first weekend of each month, but also open for static display and site tours every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Look forward to hopefully seeing you then.

Are any of your steam fleet back in operation at all? Would be very tempted to see one of the Barclay's shunting around.

At the last open day 22 was im operation shunting. I will check and post back asap. At present 22 is steamable but has worn tyres and way needs a new steam pipe.
