I believe that's correct. NR boundary is just north of Amersham.

    It was priceless! :)

Sadly I didn't have chance to take a pic, the moment passed too soon. :(

I wonder if the footage from the Go Pro mounted on the front of Met 1 will ever be made public?.......................

Meanwhile, on the other side was a guy running from the platform trying to cover his face with his overcoat at the same time to avoid the smoke as it engulfed the concourse!! :)

Someone positioned at the front of the train with camera at the ready could get some good reaction shots of the amazed public...

Though perhaps a little overshadowed by the H&C runs, it's worth remembering that next weekend (16th and 17th) sees the Rickmansworth-Chesham runs take place with the Chesham set and steam in both directions hauled by Met No1 and L150.

The first run, Wembley Park-Rickmansworth, departs at 10:23 (30mins) with return trips from Rickmansworth to Chesham departing at 11.51, 13:51 (1hr) and 15:51 (1hr20) - the last of which terminates at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

    I wouldn't say that!

I reckon they're just as keenly awaited as the H&C runs have been. ;)

I'm still trying to work out where to go, which day to go etc, etc..........................

I would, next weekends runs are not quite the same drama as steam underground, certainly won't be any dumfounded Japanese tourists gawking in amazement.

Not much else going on tho, so I might venture out;)

Each to their own Jeff!

I for one AM looking forward to it. :)

Don't get that much steam in this neck of the woods, and it'll be nice to get some shots without too many bodies in the way.

Oh, and by the way, forgot to say, I think your complete and utter bowl at Baker Street yesterday has more than made up for the mickey taking you gave me and Dave over No.7 earlier in the year! :):):)

I prefer to think of it as less of a bowl, more of an attempt to get atmosphere, sense of occasion and human interest into the video.

Go on Jeff, admit it if you can........................ you and god knows how many others got right royally f***ked!

At least you had the presence of mind to "rescue" the situation, unlike this little lot (except for the guy on the extreme left ;) ) waiting for Sarah Siddons on the second run!

Pffft. o_O You ask "oldgit" - Last week I said to him "Stick with me my 'ol son and you'll get the shots you want" And lo I delivered. :p

This weekend I had one primary goal, the shot at Notting Hill Gate, with its magnificent roof, was the shot of the weekend, with only one chance to get it. With that in the bag I went for the riskiest option at the second best location.

Next weekend is a tricky option, its not a very easy route to get good shots in. Poor access to the line side, poor sight lines, planning is key.

The set will be transferring to Ruislip on Tuesday (12th August) - 1129 off Northfields, reverses Acton Town 1155 and gets to Ruislip at 1222.

Absolutely right, last weekend you got it absolutely right.

Yesterday I got the shot as well as a head & beard- full of hot clinker (got a burn mark on my shirt to prove it), but you turned a potential disaster into a triumph! Well done!

Where will you be next weekend - I need to be near you!!!

Ralph, sorry should've replied to this earlier!

Great in theory, but not in practice - OK ish above ground & fine if you're next to a window seat, but not as I found out yesterday if you are by the window :):) and someone in the middle wants to stick their head/phone/camera out of it - the compartments are quite narrow, so you sit more or less toe to toe. In the tunnels you've no chance of sticking your head out - the amount of stuff hanging off the walls would take your head away & by the time you enter the station, to get to the window and whip the camera out, you're in the tunnel again!

You really need to be on the platform to photograph the expressions on peoples faces! Most of which are :)

The ones who rail against a steam loco coming through cant say they weren't warned - every time the specials ran, an announcement was made "THERE'S A STEAM TRAIN COMING" several times over! ;) :)

Just adding my thanks to everyone involved in running the whole event. I was on the first trip from Northfields yesterday and it was a fantastic experience. I think my friends and I must have been extremely lucky yesterday judging by what people have said on here, as we were only didn't get the sun once and weren't bowled out at all by service trains. The gallery at Vine Street just outside Farringdon must have looked ridiculous to members of the public with about 15-20 photographs, most on step ladders looking over the side of a bridge! Managed to phot 86259 at Kings Cross and 87002 at Harringay during the day too. All in all, a pretty good day!
