That was so atmospheric in the more enclosed stations. Did it really happen?!

Very nice John. Do you think we could get 34081 down there? :)

We all know how many people just switch of station announcements, or don't hear them because they seem incapable of doing anything without 'music' in their ears.

You might get it down, the question is whether you'd get it back out again!

(Didn't the LSWR once drop a tank engine down the lift shaft to the Waterloo and City, or did I imagine that?)

Suspect then that on Saturday Morning, Met No. 1 will lead a stock move from Ruislip to Wembley Park?

That's the one - No. 672 apparently. It was later than I thought (early 1948) and cut up on the spot - so sadly no "M7 restoration project" buried 100 feet under Waterloo ...

Fantastic, I hope someone does the same for the Chesham runs with some reasonable gradients for Met No1 and L150 to get stuck into IIRC - anyone know if Sarah will be going along for the ride too?

Does anbody have a gradient profile/knowledge for the forthcoming runs this weekend ( and possible stock moves to/from Ruislip)? Making the journey down from Scotland, sadly only weekend I can so missing the tunnels, but would like to make the most of the spectacle!

Watching john34077's video, it struck me how tidy TFL keep their lines and other infrastructure compared to Network Rail.

I'm pretty sure the branch climbs from the junction at Little Chalfont, and looking at the OS map it looks as though it's then downhill from the second overbridge, by Round Wood, to the river crossing. It might then be slightly uphill from the river to Chesham station. Of course, that doesn't tell you what the gradients are nor where they change.

From Rickmansworth its 1 in 110/100/105 up to Chalfont but I don't know about the branch. Pity No 1 is on the back for the climbs.

IIRC the branch falls away from Chalfont & Latimer towards Chesham, with the first couple of miles descending at around 1 in 66, so there should be some decent climbing in each direction for these trains.

And the "Billy Bonus" in all of this (which I think may have already been mentioned) is, it looks like the specials, going by LT's journey planner, have the branch to themselves for the duration of the runs! :)

I would sincerely hope so, as it is single track and operated as 'one engine in steam'!

EDIT - Jonathan, yes Met 1 facing London and L150 facing Chesham. I think Sarah Siddons might be tucked inside L150 as per the positioning move tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Dan
