    Interesting! :)

I really wish someone would maintain a regular Blog for it on the website - I know the guys go tin rattling on the trains, but I reckon most of the punters haven't got a clue whats happening with her!

Clan Line is not "bowing out" of the British Pullman. She will pause her operations when her overhaul comes up next year. I believe that it is the job of the MNLPS to find a temporary replacement and for that I guess any of the DBS locos are eligible including Tornado provided that they meet whatever criteria are laid down for the BP operations. The A1ST does not want Tornado in the south all of the time (according to Mark Allatt) so if she ends up with any BP work it'll only be for some of the trips. Working backwards from that, it is likely therefore that there may be two locos sharing the BP work. Whether Braunton gets a slot is anyone's guess but Tangmere will not be available for any number of reasons.

Taking over temporarily while 35028 is overhauled. I can't remember when she's due to bow out, but the choice of replacement loco is down to the MNLPS. This was from Steam Railway a few months back.

--Big Al got there just before me!--

On the subject of which other locos may take some trains, could 34046 be in the frame for some? As well as others from the Hosking fleet?

As much as I would love to see 34046 on the pullmans. Am I alone in wanting 70000 to have a run out? With a hope she could be renumbered as either '4 or '14?

You're definitely not alone, if that could be arranged, complete with Golden Arrow headboard and arrows on the smoke deflectors it would be a sight to see (and hear!)

Isn't that irrelevant as whether she has air brakes or not, the British Pullman is operated by DBS and British India Line is a West Coast loco?

34067 is operated by DBS is it not? It's also a CRRES loco.
That said it would be a surprise if it was turned out air braked given none of the other locos restored at Carnforth have been.

Actually, I don't think she has been operated by DBS since Ian R sold his stake a few years ago. As far as I can remember, she has only been operated by WCRC since then, like the other WC/CRRES locos.

2011 seems to be the last year she was operated by DBS. Was due to work the GB in 2012 - a DBS operation - but she never made the tour.

The other question is whether wcr in practice ever operate steam tours in air mode. Some stock will be dual braked. Guess it may depend on what hauls it before the steam hooks on if the steam is dual fitted.

Some of the PMR tours have been air braked (with air con stock in the formation).

and the pm Jacobite which followed it used a set of air Mk2s as well.
But on the main network when wcr stock is used by RTC for example?

But aren't the older batches of Mk. 2 vac-braked? If WCRC predominantly use these, then there would still be little need for an air pump. If that is the case, there's little reason for 34067 to still have the pump fitted at the moment, as I can't see it being used on Jacobite or Cambrian duties any time soon.

Whilst CRSS have vacuum fitted diesels and steam locos then there is less need for duel braked stock, assuming they can get spares for the vacuum braking systems , yes early MK2's were vacuum fitted , but quite a few would have been converted to air , but retained the vacuum fittings that then would have become non used, until steam ran again on BR, of course then most coaching sets used on railtours would have had the vacuum systems overhauled as then, steam engines didnt have air systems , now as some, mostly DBS operated are air only mode as DBS do not have any vacuum braked stock,or locos.
