Yes it was and many thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately it was too early in the day to return to said pub for a swift one, so I continued along the path and found myself at Weybridge station.

A Pint was then taken at the Hand & Spear after a stroll in the woods.

Enjoyed your Splendid vid of the returning hero dashing through WBY.

Good to see 34067 on this one today. Here's Tangers working well through Fleet. Missed the details of rear motive power but I'm sure someone will update later.

Yes big surprise to see Tangy. Running very fast and on time at St Cross. Dead 37 on the back.

From the new car park I believe? Took a film of 70013 there a few weeks back from the upper deck.

James is correct, new car park at Fleet. If you go right to the far end there is a staircase which gives this view. Probably not worth a long trip though, good views of the pond if birding is your thing, the sun(if any) will be in your face which wont help. Not too many good views of the railway to be found nearby, Potbridge is the favoured spot with good views of the bridges towards Winchfield. Farnborough station still has original buildings and is on a curve so adds some interest as 35028 shows back in 2012:

    35028_030512_1f.jpg

Ron (Fisher?) took a good view recently from the Southwood road bridge looking towards Farnborough. A long lens with maybe a passing unit could add interest and would include Farnborough Abbey in the distance. Finally, the road bridge at Winchfield for up trains adds a feature on a fairly uninspiring section of the old LSWR. A different story in the past of course, very straight and just about completely flat, I'm sure you've relayed stories of 100mph+ running in the late 60's!!! Any other ideas in the area most welcome.

Not quite the shot I intended! Went to Sway to film this, lost my bearings and set up on the wrong platform facing the wrong way!!! Fortunately managed to swivel the camera when I heard the train behind me and at least I got something:

Something wrong with 34067? She was being pushed by the 37 at the 2 locations I went to, and at another 2 other spots that friends were at.

    James

EDIT: Just to clarify, 34067 was doing nothing at either location, with barely any smoke/steam being emitted.

Hadn't read this thread, so was surprised to see Tangers rock up to West Byfleet this evening, and was surprised to see not a whisp of smoke coming from the chimney, and a 37 roaring away on the back.
    Vid to follow

Looks like I made the right decision not to book on this trip. Had a narrow escape as I was going to ring RTC for late availability yesterday but didn't get time in end. I would have been disappointed to find 34067 rolling into Woking this morning instead of 70013 & pretty p****d off to have the diesel shoving like it was in the videos I have seen. Went for a walk in the Surrey Hills instead.
