    I wouldn't mind betting that Wadebridge will keep going right to the end of her ticket - she's a resilient old girl and always seems to keep going when everything else fails. Plus she's got a stunning boiler which absolutely wipes the floor with some of the more celebrated Bulleids. Never known an engine to get such undeserved bad press, though the dear old thing will undoubtedly be improved by her second preservation overhaul.

    Well said Widge, only the other day we were discussing how 34007 despite sounding a bit asthmatic/making hard work of life at the moment, is a reliable old girl!! The loco is remarkably reliable and rarely fails so doesn't deserve the bad press!

    Where is 34007 getting bad press? she wasn't my favourite loco tbh when I was at the railway as whenever we had her she seemed to fail on us..... Mind you this was in the first couple of years of her ticket and they have now seemed to have gotten on top of the problem!

    According to Pat Butler, when she went up to the CVR last year - the lads up there shook everything back into place! :eek::eek::eek:

    And they certainly didn't want to let us have her back, it seems they love Bulleids Oop there! :)

    I think some people are just anti Bulleid myself. Just wait until 34105 makes it's long awaited come back. 34105 Swanage was always a far better loco from what I've heard.

    I think after Bittern's exploits last year, you could say she's testament to that! :)

    As for the lads at Ropley, they remain the unsung hero's........... shame they didn't get some of the plaudits for bring her back from the dead to mainline standard. :(

    Does anyone have any updates on the cosmetic overhaul on Winston Churchill at all- really looking forward to seeing the MHR guys handiwork on him/her. Was looking very tired when I last saw it at York a couple of years back.

    Well there are no schools in early BR black lined livery so you could possibly do both, if york agree, repaint 925 in plain black, and use vinyl panels on the tender for the Southern lettering , for 1 or 2 week ends, run her with 506 in the same livery, if thats what 506 will be in, then fully line her out in BR mixed traffic livery with early logo :) that way you should recoupe the money it takes to repaint her from photo charters etc and the 2 week ends takings, if its a once only occation.

    34105 Was always heavier on coal than either 34016 or 35005, she had to have a deeper fire to steam well compared to her sisters, i had a go on 257 sqn just the once, and she was like Bodmin, light and bright so no two engines are the same, Swanage did have a reputation for being a shy steamer in BR days, and whilst she may have been better in its preserved service she was not so easy as an rebuilt .
