Where is the LNE zone boundary? Presumably Sheffield- Huddersfield-Hebden Bridge section is in the LNE zone? I've got £60 riding on this and just wondering if there could be a route plan B. Any thoughts?

it has to come through Yorkshire to justify the name, if not might as well call it the 'Plastic Bucket' and be done with it;)

Maybe the a Todmorden curve could be christened by steam? A route taking that in would have some appeal no doubt. Include the little nw and other lesser used lines might salvage something.

Yep. Preston-Victoria-Copy Pit- Blackburn-Preston- Carnforth-Hellifield-Blackburn-Sough- Mcr with a guided tour of Carnforth WCR chucked in!! Better than yet another postponement. But which zone is Todmorden in I wonder.

Todmorden is in LNW (just); the LNE boundary is 1 mile short of Hebden Bridge. How about Changing the destination to Buxton instead, so as to preserve as much of the original route as possible. Perhaps Preston-Manchester Vic-Stockport-Buxton-Chinley-Guide Bridge-Ashburys-Brewery Junction-Todmorden-Copy Pit-Blackburn-Manchester Vic, all of which is in LNW territory.

Put me down for either of those options - as long as something runs on 2nd November & preferably with the Riley duo on the front.

Thinking of booking it, as its fairly good value whatever the final route. You never know, things might have slackened off by the end of October.

I seem to recall NR had only signalled Tod curve in one direction (can't remember which way) leading to further delays on the new Mcr-Burnley service, over and above the lack of units for it of course.

Seems reasonable, given choice who would want to go back to Burnley ? :D
Suppose the ticket machines that way have been set up to only sell singles as well ? ;)

The curve is currently signalled northbound only (towards Burnley) and will remain the case until southbound signalling is added in February.

So, in the absence of agreement between WCRC & NR how about re-routeing it Man Vic - Todmorden - Copy Pit -Blackburn - Preston -Carnforth - Hellifield - Blackburn - Bolton -Manchester Vic. I'm not sure how the mileage would stack up be there's still some good climbing in there & a 60mph blast up the WCML. It could even be renamed Figure of Eight or Pieces of Eight or something equally daft if a continuing "literary" reference was preferred. That's got to be better than another cancellation - if only there was time to decide & sort it...........

I thought the original was via Victoria, but now we are going through Piccadilly?

As I recall it was originally advertised as Victoria but engineering works forced a shift to Piccadilly for the 11th May & then back to Victoria for the 25th May. Let's hope it's sticking with Victoria & a Platting Bank start.

RTC site and UK steam both say Victoria. Do you know different Ralph?

Will there be a box on the back? I'm hoping they just send one down for the run back to Preston in the evening.

Posted by Ian in September, maybe it is back to the original...
"Basically as previous years, but include Man Pic in the morning and evening as Vic is impossible...and Bamford, Barnsley, Copy pit and Sough!"

I would tend not to rely on the RTC web site as I don't think that it was changed when the alteration as per Ians post was announced.

No reason to have diesel on as it's a round trip with no shunting required, just a matter of where the steam comes off on the return, as they are not likely to go back to Preston, and I would not be surprised to see them come on somewhere in the Manchester area.

Well if this trip ends up at Man Vic for the steam to diesel change (that has happened in the past) then one extra skip won't be out of place at the building site the place is currently.
