I wonder if she will be taken out of action after the autumn gala? I remember that she was due to have a general overhaul on her front at the start of the year but that never happened, time to try again?

She's not running at the gala - remember?!

If she is to have anything done, I suppose that comes down to space - of which there ain't a lot - and in that respect it would seem that she'd have to wait for the Black 5 to vacate.

I was viewing the gala as the end of the normal running service as after that you only have the Santa speicals which you wouldnt need more than 3 locos for (925, 850 and 92212). We filled that space up quickly at Ropley.

It's been very interesting reading about the problems with 34007. Surely a loco that "sick" wouldn't be hired out to other lines as this would give the MHR a bad reputation. Yet she has been to the Churnet Valley, Bodmin and the WSR this year. Okay, she failed at the CVR but they sorted her out and she performed well at both the WSR and Bodmin Galas. At the WSR she was the more healthy of the two Spamcans visiting as 34070 was failed. So has she been worn out as a result of all the visits?
She has always been one of my favourite performers on the MHR but it seems she is not much fun to drive these days going by the crew reports on here.

No trains running in November. Looking forward to photoing the Santa's with class 37 and class 50 haulage. I'm hoping 37099 will be rostered for the Santa's this year and with any luck 37099 will work the Alresford end of the line.

    No trains running in Nov?
There are 3 RATs, 2 Belles, A murder mystery event, and the wizard weekend. All of these will be steam hauled (though may have diesel backup).

Forgot about the Wizard weekend which is 1st and 2nd of November. Apart from that. Rats and Belles only run early evening/after dark. Have to wait until Santa's for weekend day time running.

I'm booked on 34007's mini charter on Saturday. Defo on the early start but hopefully will be an enjoyable few hours before the railway 'wakes up' properly for the day!!

Good luck with the weather - we had a cracking day last November with the headboards!

Have an enjoyable time. :) The weather looks set to be fine, though whether you get a sunny start is another matter..........

I'll be down early to see what's going on at Ropley - I'll no doubt see the flat top later at Alton - wont have time to gatecrash the charter.

Reading SR today. I read 34092 will be made available for hire. Anyone like to hazard a guess who would be in the market for hiring in a Bulleid?

The Mid Hants might consider getting a Bulleid. Would be something new and completely different for them :p

Hmmm 34007 goes on a long holiday to CVR and 34092 comes home to southern metals on the MHR.... sound like a fair deal to me:)

Wonder if the NYMR will borrow it now and again? They seemed to get on well with 34070.

    PMSL! :)

Though I think 34092's owner & the KWVR might just disagree......... maybe we should just let the CVR have 34007. after all Swanage will be ready by then......

Talking of NYMR, anyone have any update on Hartland? Quick scan of their website shows up "34101 —- Boiler: New inner firebox being fabricated. Boiler rebuild in hand. New firebox outer wrapper plates inserted. Regulator Valve mounted in boiler. Rolling Chassis is ready to receive boiler" Didn't the owner pass away recently? Does this effect any overhaul or has the loco been gifted to the railway?

Strange how all these Northern lines with lots o lumps & bumps LOVE Bulleids......... given the only time Bulleids worked Oop North were the exchange trials.

Then again my very first experience of a Bulleid was 34092 at the KWVR in the early 80's! :)

Who was it who said they can't climb hills?.......... probably the say eijit who said A4's cant either....... ;)
