Darfield, TVR 28 and the Jinty aren't home fleet, or even anything to do with Llan. Not sure how a Thomas will fit in a SSS gala, and Jenifer is long term hire to Embsay, so couldn't see them bringing it back for a gala. Of the other locos we'll probably have 2 or 3 of them. Hopefully more but depends on overhauls and repairs.

Cheers matey, I'd be delighted to have a full home fleet with 6430, 7822 and 5199, and then some interesting guests (but not necessarily going "Tornado hunting").

Reaching into the "Dream" bucket (and reflecting my LMS leanings), I wonder if 53809 might be ready by then - it was at Butterley back in July being worked on in the shed. What about Leander and maybe Royal Scot as well?

Maybe a GWR 2-8-0T or two as well.......?

I'd love to see a pure GWR event instead of hiring in big-namers or assorted engines. The Llangollen would be great for, sa, 8-10 GW engines doing their stuff. A few panniers, prairies, a Manor, a Hall, perhaps a 2-8-0T and 2-8-0 tender engine plus a 14xx. Would appeal to me much more than hiring anything random.

Like you say Llan is well suited for those locos but most working types of GW locos have visited over the years. The big namers and 'stars' seem to sell at these SSS events. So hopefully we'll see a good mix of both as at previous events, a star or two, then a few less glamorous work horses more suited to the line or area. Time will tell what the 6880 mob have up their sleeves.

Couldn't have a King due to gauging issues with the overhang when running round at Llangollen. Don't know if things have changed since 2009 when we did look into it, but not heard anything to the contrary. Same issue with 6201 as well IIRC just incase anyone's interested...

    Didcot & Newbury Theme! 30120 / 30777 / 30541 / 3205 / 5322 / 76084 with 3802 / 80072 already on site.
Would also give a mini Cambrian Theme by adding in 7822 to the GWR Pair.

Or as 2015 is 40 Years of Llan Rly, be nice have locos that have played a role in the railway over this period or hire locos of a similar type. Thinking of 76079 / 34027 / 60009 it at all possible. Oh well, see what Q etc all come up with.

It's the 150th anniversary of one of the railways also. Llangollen, or Llangollen and Corwen possibly. So many companies involved in building relitively small sections of line before being taken over by the GW. I think it's also the 60th anniversary of the line shutting.

Things are being looked at to celebrate or commemorate these anniversaries. Never mind those 90s locos Jon. What about an 80s weekend with the Brewer and the red pig!

Ideal situation for a shunt loco and crew to provide draw offs and entertainment between train departures.

Probably the best gala line-up i've seen since SVR ASG 2005.

I'd prefer an LMS event, we don't get too many of them..

    2MT (2-6-0 or 2-6-2T) , 3F, 4F, 5MT, 8F, WD, Fairburn Tank, Std2, Std4, Std5, 9F..
76079 with 76084 would be nice :) - does NYMR hire out it's locos ?-there doesn't seem much track record of it.

Yes Lampton tank to the Tanfield this month, but they have been short of operation locos recently.
The North Norfolk usually have their Spring Gala early March so if this happens I doubt 7608 will be available.

Morayshire is doing a tour of England, I would think that it might be on the list of locos they would like to secure? Been there before and I would have thought would be welcomed back. I think a small prairie and 3205 and a castle would be quite nice to have.

    Fingers crossed :)

Visitors to the gala will now of course be able to patronise accommodation in Corwen with the benefit of the new rail connection.
Perhaps somebody from 6880 will concoct a list of suitable accommodation.

Winter 1998 or 1999. The time we had a 25 wagon freight train out at a gala, and did uncoupled banking as far as Berwyn.

That's an interesting list - I assume 13000 is the pioneer Crab, in which case I think it's at Shildon and not steam-able, although 42765 is back in steam. That would be a good one to rise the valley behind....

On the assumption that 6880&Co go for a wider range of engines than "just" GWR ones (I completely understand a previous poster's wish for an all-GWR line up) then how about a return for D49 Morayshire or a visit from 61264 (or whatever number and name it's running as at the moment:rolleyes:)?
