    Not quite, S2 is set M(8) on all 4 days. At KR, L2 is added to make the set up to 10, then the set is taken to BH where it is split into ON1 and ON2.
    L1 and L2 are both LMS coaches, with L3 being a LMS coach and a GW one (as there's 2 LM brakes, the GW coach must be the brake in L3)
    S1 is GW2 Friday to Sunday (Tomorrow it is set N)
    S3 is N(8) Friday to Sunday
    N1 is C on all 4 days with the Venture coaches added for brunch train

    So, if I've got it right:

    S2 = M8

    M8 + L2 = ON1 + ON2

    S1 = GW2 except when it is N

    S3 = N8 except when it isn't.

    N1 = C but also N1 = C + VV (which suggests VV = 0, if my algebra is correct).

    L1 is a function of LMS, as is L2 but L3 is a function of both LMS and GW.

    Now, solving those simultaneous equations and taking the differential with respect to t suggests ... Just turn up and see what appears!

    Tom you forgot to factor that VV=L(1) + M(1) (LMS dining car + BR Kitchen)

    I think your advice is spot on and I have been studying the WTT for a week

    It would not be so much fun to be that simple.

    Seriously I think the problem lies in using S and N to describe north and south gala sets and their normal uses as s=special (GW Dining set) and N = teaks. Also teaks would not fit in tha space in the TN. We also need to differentiate between the Carmine & Cream MK1 set and the maroon MK1 set. These are also the risks in going public with a complex w

    Actually the problem is using N twice with different meanings. normally Bridgnorth trains are AN1, BN1 CN1 and KD AS1 BS1 and CS1 etc so no confusion with set descriptions.

    Also we use C= carmine and cream and M= maroon to differentiate the two MK1 SETS

    I have managed to fowl up this reply, I thought I had lost the first try but leaving it so you can all have a laugh at my expense

    The teak sets N designation actually dates from the days when set N was 5 GWR and 3 teaks and stood for Nondescript.
    Back on topic - The Railway used to list them as the regular sets designation with the addition in brackets of the number of coaches along with a key in the ASG WTT and nobody used to get confused then. I don't know why they felt the need to change it from that tbh as it worked ok for many years.

    As for the difference between rakes of MkI's.......... whats wrong with saying Blood & Custard or Maroon.......................... Sooooo simple......... actually I don't care whats hauling what - as long as I get a ride in the most comfy stock - the TEAKS!! :) As for the rest of the time, I will no doubt window hang...... If I get there. ;)

    A few years ago the Teaks formed one of the overnight sets that I had behind 46443, the MK1's win hands down for getting a bit of kip!

    Its easy once you get used to it.
    M= Maroons
    C= Carmines
    L= LMS
    N= North eastern
    S= Special (the old gw1, which now runs as a special train rather than in normal service. Usually only 5 coaches).
    Gw2 = Gw. Hawksworth. Collet and mark 1 rmb.
    Toplights= what it says on the tin.

    Teaks most comfortable?? LMS hands down as long as you're not directly over the bogies but then that applies to most stock.

    Having ridden the Teaks, LMS & some other so called coaches from a n other Rly recently........... I can safely say the Teaks are the most Comfy :), The experimental MkI next, followed by a n other..... with the LMS stuff bringing up the rear..... or should that be hard on the rear - NOT a comfy ride! :eek:

    The weather for next few days is mixed depending on which forecast you follow. Tomorrow is likely to be similar to today: cloudy start then sunshine. The weekend might brng some rain, thundery at times into the equation...oh well
