    Ref: 30053s little train.
    You know how things go; Class 2 = 2 coaches, class 4= 4 coaches, class 7 = 7 coaches.

If that were true I'm intrigued how 8 coach trains were allowed, as the highest classification was 7 (88 & 34053) :p

Or what a Beattie well tank (classified 0P) would be allowed to haul?

    It's a joke!
Based on some truth from the cautiousness of some Operators......

I rather suspect - at least I hope - that a tongue was being firmly inserted in a cheek! Otherwise, I'm at a loss how our H class (class 1) takes four coaches up much steeper gradients than on the SVR, and our two P classes (class 0) would never be allowed out of the shed!

Can't comment on others, but I took twr12 comment as a light hearted one...

Although i believe it is the method for working the Conway Valley line. Anything that takes more than their classification seems to have issues.

That picture of the 45xx on a freight is just the nuts for me and my favourite.

  16. There were some questions on the progress of the other 7F 53809 at the Midland Railway Centre. I visited there earlier this year and have posted pictures of the work for all to see. The boiler seems to be finished and hopefully by now may have been reunited with the frames.

Wow the Southern region must of batch built the Merchant navy class without it being common knowledge, now we know why so many of the class survive as they were as common as black 5's ;)

Only joking steam memories, you might want to swap the 3 & 5 in your last post :):)
