Was a bit surprised to clock a warship enjoying the sun outside OOC on my way past this morning. Quick bit of googling suggests it's D821 from the WSR getting some TLC.

A rare bit of preservation action… Braunton with its fire lit at Southall, and 6023 and the Railmotor (I think) peeking out at Didcot…

Think I have a poor B&W photo of Greyhound at Ilfracombe somewhere ... happy holiday memories.

Must have been a good commute this morning.. Didcot, Southall and a Warship.

Wouldn't it be nice if the warship was to go mainline again...

No detail on DTG website other than taken by road and work being assessed. Just getting it going again may be a challenge.

I seem to recall reading it was requiring bogie repairs. Also as Kidderminster is currently having the first stages of the Diesel Depot being built, there isn't a vast amount of space available so probably for the best it has gone elsewhere for the time being.

Normally Greyhound is based at Kidderminster, at present they are preparing for the new Diesel Depot to be build so I imagine track space is at a premium. It was probably an opportune time for the work to be carried out at OOC.

Ahh, fair enough. I thought it was based at the WSR. Hadn't really been keeping track though…

Definitely on the WSR atm. Reading the ELR disesel group page, it's on an 'extended hoilday' whatever that quite means.

IIRC was either from Ilfracombe or Barnstaple Town to Exeter, change to Brush 4 for Sheffield. I pleaded terminal car sickness to go home by train with my mum. Must have cost a fortune ;)

Would be nice if it returned to service in the UK on the main line looking like one of its preserved German parents did earlier this month. Nice clean exhaust as well.

I believe one of the UK ones did appear in Red some years back but I seem to recall it was a very dull finish.
