Well TBLT has stated it's not 61264; speculation on the RTC 2014 thread includes 34046 or 34067.

Well, one is too slow and the other won't steam so as far as I'm concerned, no thanks! :)

Well considering 34067 is currently Oop North, and 34046 hasn't moved today, I think its odds on to be 34046 on Sunday........

When it comes to steam around the capital.. from london until the first waterstop :
is usually slower than 30mph :) and
has a diesel on the back..

so neither of the above is a problem :cool::cool:

however if Galatea made it to London, that red paint could be subbed for a nice shade of Malachite green...number 2C699 ? perhaps.

off to the bunker for me.

Seriously though, I was interested to book it had it been the B1, but the last few years steam from London has become much more repeat/set itinieries with the same three ring circus of 34067/4464/70013 + a Black5 of your choice,.. 34046 provided a nice change, but all too soon it's over, it's started to lose it's appeal, indeed I can't even be bothered to go out and photo them either recently. The grass is looking greener (and redder / blue-er) on the north of watford side of the fence when it comes to locomotive choice these days.

Hmmm, I am in a real quandary. There is a lots of unusual routing going on with this trip, use of the new chord at Ipswich, the Stowmarket/Newmarket/Cambridge route for example, on the other hand its Braunton which frequently appears un dramatic. Not sure weather to plan a chase for this or not but THIS is Brauntons last run before overhaul.

I didn't think the Jub had a steaming problem Al and anyway it certainly goes very fast downhill. Come to think of it though there aren't many hills in Anglia.

Whichever loco it is, the route is an interesting one and I hope that it can run as planned. I have a slight concern over whether WC will be happy with the tender first section as I can think of a much easier alternative that would take the edge off the whole day if implemented. Yes, TF has been done before with no difficulty so let's hope that it all maps out as planned, but the RTC page looks as though it's not been updated for ages and that is often a sign of uncertainty. We shall see and I will hold off from booking until we know.

They've done Norwich - Lowestoft t/f before so why any different now? Also the Jacobite has a t/f leg every time it runs. It's not as though it's anything new to WCRC.

So the crew would prefer not to run T/F but its not far and the subsequent route (using the new Ipswich chord) it allows firebox first is an interesting one. But I too will wait and see, and would not be surprised to see this run differently.

My minimum criteria for booking is that it still picks up at Stevenage, so until I can be fairly certain, I'll probably now hold off booking until Wednesday. If any changes in route come about, I'll be considering it on its merits and ease of access from the north.

What, from York? First train I can catch on a Sunday arrives at Stevenage at 09:41, which is very tight based upon the prov times, so it would be a hotel job if I don't fancy a four hour drive before and after the trip. As such, I'd need to have a vague idea that the pickup points will stand as advertised. Furthermore, part of the appeal of the trip as currently advertised is the route between Hitchin and Cambridge, which would be new track for me.

FYI - the RTC has not yet had anything confirmed re route, loco or timings but that's just late notification, it seems.
