Does anyone know if the 2 Transpennine routes have been gauged yet?
or is everything larger than a Jub/Black 5 still banned?

    any one in the know?

    regards

I'll throw in a Class 142... Or whatever other type of bus on wheels Northern sometimes uses over the route. Seriously, is this due to a change of gauging software or what ? I don't remember the back-story to this issue.

142, Sometimes use???? Hell, they infest the routes round these parts, whoever owns Northern Rail (Serco I think) sure as hell intend to run those damn things into the ground. It's "interesting" exiting Morley tunnel for the gallop down the hill to Batley and Dewsbury, those drivers have no fear whatsoever.

However, I've been led to understand that unless they are made more wheelchair friendly, they will effectively be illegal from 2019.

Perhaps melted down and rolled into very flat sheets would make them wheelchair friendly?

Well, the platform is your round hole & your locomotive is your square peg.
You get a bit of software and you try and jam the one into the other.
As long as the difference is more than 41mm you get a railtour, otherwise you get a day doing something else.

The answer your really after, is unless someone's slewed the track in Dean Royd or Weasel Hall Tunnel's away from the wall, then no, nothing has changed on the Manchester to Todmorden route (AFAIK) and your average Duchess/A4 won't be going that way anytime soon.o_O

I can't remember what was up with Stalybridge route, other than capacity limitations.
