And Ian Riley has now had these wheel sets retested and apparently they are good to go, should he ever get around to overhauling 35009. The supposed flaws were in fact machining marks I believe.

So do I. "BG3" the new generator/staff/brake coach for the Belle is in Blood and Custard, it should be in service in April 2015. Look out for it in the shunt when the Met Cam Pullmans are removed from the headshunt in Alresford

So, the wheel turns again.................. we had the Blood & Custard bar car, and that got sold (can't remember to who!)................... is this the next one to suffer the same fate?......... I hope not, as we don't exactly have that many coaches do we, and anyone who's got Mk I's now hangs on to them, and I'm not sad at the Met Cams going - they would be rust before they got restored, so to go to WCRC can only be a good thing!

You're wrong. BG3 IS the Blood and Custard bar car transferred to its new service due to the current BG nearing the end of its natural life and the fact that using a BCK gives more seats on the train.

As to Blood and Custard stock as a general rule, I don't thing it weathers as well as green and it is a darn sight more complex to apply (Blue/Grey is worse) and that would slow down the rate of painting.

I think a blue and grey rake would look very nice at the Mid-Hants, it would look smart behind 37324, also 33053, and I believe 27007 once restored will be blue, it also wouldn't look to out of place behind 50027 or 37901...... and it has to be said, 45379, I do believe black 5s ran with blue and grey stock?

Railways do have a history after July 9th 1967 you know.

Paint a set blue and grey....... because it won't be long before some people start to call for a set in Network Southeast!

The Epping & Ongar Thumper looks splendid in NSE (there is a picture on my Flickr, but I can't link it from here at work). It's certainly an attractive livery, I wonder what the Hamsphire Unit's group would think about that?

"21B is correct, BG3 is the old bar car, and it does still have roller doors. Also the poor weathering characteristics and comparative "fiddleness to paint" of blood and custard livery is something I have heard put forward to explain the lack of this livery on the mid-Hants recently. I think a few maroon coaches would not be out of place though, got quite excited when the new brake coach arrived a third of the way through the spring gala and got pressed into service asap!

so once this other Maroon coach arrives, then you will have 2 and as one is a brake, it would look rather nice behind the Ivatt when it returns:)

Shows how taste varies, I think NSE livery is absolutely awful, wish Lion could be painted in something else! Each to his own of course....as an aside, when I used to travel to school by train in the early 70's (from Kent House on the Orpington-Victoria line) in various EMUs, mostly 4EPB's they were of course BR blue. One of my friends who made the same trip but from Shortlands swore blind that they were green!

Yes! Also, back on topic, the RM seems to think that 41312 is soon to be outshopped, does anyone here know of a rough date? Presumable after 76017, maybe June next year( says he optimistically)

41312 : It was planned to be ready for the off peak Winter services in January / February. However, don't know if this is still the plan*. They were hoping not much work would be required on the bottom half of the loco as a lot of jobs were done before she went out of ticket.
76017: Shouldn't be far behind the Ivatt Tank. *At the AGM Colin said that he hoped both loco's would be ready for the Spring Gala.
