And at 1.30 I am sure that diesel hauled train had a diesel pushing at the rear too. Pushing hard.

Where will it all end, I ask?

Is the film of that now in the production phase and due for release soon?

Well it was 64 at Meldreth actually but Micky Valla has had Ollie really humming along and the climb up through Royston to Ashwell was great. 53 min with the whole train incl. DL hanging off the drawbar.

That is totally unacceptable. Now they are trying to hide the Diesel clag with a smokescreen from the steam loco! SCOUNDRELS!

The outside broadcast team has just got back to the studio, after a tour of the country, premier screening to be seen at a computer screen near you shortly.

For reasons best known to itself Flickr won't play it here. Tried different browsers but clicking on the play button brings up a black screen.

Thanks - I like Foxton as you can legitimately get quite close to the action on either platform :)

It wasn't nearly so exciting at lunchtime through Shelford (but convenient, as my office overlooks Shelford station!):

FYI, I was the large, bald bloke in the flying jacket with small boy in tow...

Sorry about that Ian - it played up on my Mac too initially, but then just started working - it was my first time trying to use flickr, and I just went iPhone->iPhoto->flickr. I'll see if I can do anything about it. In the meantime, you can grab the raw footage here if you want: http://northfield.me.uk/20141016-Foxton-Cromwell.mov (or the more sedate pass through Shelford at lunchtime: http://northfield.me.uk/20141016-Shelford-Cromwell.mov) - the full HD shows how wobbly the camera work was :(

Well this was WC and SD at their best today. Ollie ran well and the DL just made her work a bit harder. Standard was at the front all day so it was a two cylinder treat. Multiple drinks all day. Excellent service. The only hiccup on the return was that suicide alley struck again aka GWML so we were a bit late back into Reading.

Have to say, I was glad I wasn't on it. Had I been I would have missed the fantastic trackside show Ollie and the crew gave us today. This was a great tour to chase, best of the year for me I think. Vid from 4 locations to follow as soon as its uploaded.

Same here. At the umpteenth attempt I got a "Flash player is in power saving mode - click to activate" message come up. Never had that before ut it started working after that. Further evidence that Flash is becoming an increasingly bloated PITA.

And here it is. Four very different scenes, to kick off we have Ollie emerging from under the very noisy M4 after the water stop at Theal, shot on the close side. Then we have it emerging from one of the Audley End tunnels, shot on the far side. This is followed by finding it, almost by accident, stopped ready to reverse near one of the crossings (the Kings Lynn line) at Queen Adelaide where it was then dragged backwards by the 47 round the Ely Loop curve, completing a turn of the whole consist and sending it up to March for servicing in one fell swoop, and then a fast pan shot, footplate glowing orange in the gathering dusk approaching Meldreth. The pan almost looks like its speeded up but its not.

Its a little long, bit of a saga Hope you enjoy, because I did.

Certainly did. Theale to Queen Adelaide - now that's a serious trek!
