3440 and 92214 querys

First of all was 92214 ever allocated to Tyseley? Secondly when 3440 went to York in the 1930's I know it was the LNER that made sure it was saved, so does it mean that 3440 was technically an LNER machine for a while?

City of Truro was not saved by or owned by the LNER. I believe it was at the initiative of the SLS who were kindly offered a home by the Museum

92214 was also allocated to Bath Green Park, although that seems to be missing from the data shown...

 

wasn't BR black bad enough!

 

Historically BR black is the closest to LNWR, the Premire Line, black. After the BR brass had been shown the colours the mystery loco colour was revealed - shiny blackbery black. When clean it was stunning.

Thanks for the gen everybody, my questions have been ansewerd and it looks like I've unintentionally started a livery debate!

 

Steam Railway painted it in BR black in the 1980s as an April Fool http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af60/kennyGWSR/pictures-1.jpg. I seem to recall it upset a few people for some reason

Actually the lined black looks really quite distinguished....

 

I'd seen the BR black before but not those smoke deflectors! It actually doesn't look too bad in lined black, although obviously a definite come down from GWR green with the lovely Indian red. Wasn't 3440 late for something that year which was blamed on the fact they painted a side of it BR black as a joke wasted time?
