At Welywn North a jobsworth insisted on no standing beyond yellow line at the southern end of the platform even when no trains passing, but acceptable picture from further up the platform.

That is the price paid for leaving the LSWR route to the West at West Byfleet and going North and away from where Bulleids used to roam.

You will possibly face a fine or even quarantine when returning to within sight of the main line out of Waterloo to the West.

 

Fear not i will venture North again in the near future, to the damp misty flat lands where wires fear to rise, and capture a fabled blue beast straying far to the east of its safe hunting ground

 

I am really not surprised, Welwyn North is a fantastic place to film but gets massively overcrowded with fat ignorant slobs leaning over the platform to take crappy pictures with instamatics. In short its a dangerous place and before long one of the locals is going to get smeared down the side of a fast train.

 

As opposed to vidiots getting in the way with their tripods.

 

The old Co-Op foot crossing was replaced by a footbridge over three years ago. Need to more research before venturing out. Was a good place for filming but alas no more.

 

Really? So only slim people with a camera at least as good as yours should be allowed access? Surely this hobby is for everyone, regardless of their physical characteristics and ability to spend money on photographic gear?

 

Slim people can still be ignorant slobs leaning over the platform, just that Welwyn North has more of the fat variety. Yes this hobby is for everyone except when they have no sense and are so risky they need a jobs worth to tell them how to behave.

No crowds on my platform today as I avoided going to a station.
Welwyn North is a good spot but the sun was never going to be high enough to warrant going there today. 5944 had the right idea for WN by going for the silhouette at the viaduct.

 

Sadly said jobsworths often like to "have a word" even everyone is being sensible. Having said that, I've never had a problem before at the south end of the up platform.
