That was a great selection - thanks for putting it together.

Although I didn't start viewing these clips with this thought in mind, it became so obvious after the first half dozen or so that it couldn't be ignored. Nearly every one was of a charter that was carrying around a diesel. Were there any exceptions? Yes, and notably they were:
    • Anything out of the Tyseley stable - i.e. 5043 and 4965.
    • Tornado (i.e. the DBS charter).
There really is a compelling message there.

Let's face it, when you look at the tours, that, Tyseley organizes, they have a 90% sucess rate. And having, 5043, with such a good performance record, means they can leave the diesel at home, when it's the Castle on the front. Apart from the their two trips with Bittern, and the the ill fated trip to Scarborough, with 46233 this year, the use of diesel, was a rightly needed, on all three occasions. I also think over TOC's like to have bigger loads, unlike Tyseley, who usually keep it under 10 coaches.

Fair points there. Would suggest though that the 'bigger loads with non Tyseley sponsored trips' may have a lot to do with the economics of the trips - they use their own stock - and the fact that I think they choose not to load their locomotives unnecessarily.
