I wouldn’t say it let the engine down, the fact that I noticed it is an indication of the superb condition of the rest of the engine

I’ll hold my hand up to that one. I put brasso on the whistle earlier in the week while cleaning the top of the boiler, within the LSL running shed. 60007 was moved outside on Monday and unfortunately a rainstorm on Tuesday reduced the shine and...

That may be your view, she certainly is putting in the miles. Going to be quite honest, and say the most recent ascent of Shap from the South, gave the impression of very little work being done by her. A soft drifting almost silent exhaust, and...

At least Black 5s are correct for the WHL although they didn’t work to Mallaig. You are right, the crews would be most unhappy with an S15 cab

825 has not run on the main line since the introduction of TPWS/OTMR and GSM-R, an expensive lot of equipment and the loco is nit needed for the Jacobite.

I don’t think it is unrealistic to assume that but WCR aren’t going away thankfully. The glimmer of hope is that I’ve heard that the overhaul of the K1 has been given priority and unless things have changed it won’t be fitted out for working...
