Its more their attitude to potential competition from D&CR that I'm concerned about.

Quite frankly yes I would and actually yes they do. And as for voting with my wallet I already do. Anyway, I'm not getting into all this again. I've made my points on their operation in the past. I'm not saying I expect to know all the intricate details of their operation or for them to tell us everything. But this CIA type approach to secrecy on everything to the point where people have been asked to remove photos and videos from the public domain etc is ridiculous. That is all :)

Their privacy is their perogative, preservation would be a lot less interesting without their fleet, no Scots Guardsman, no Galatea restored and working, I know which prospect I prefer......

WCR's secrecy hasn't stopped me booking a tour with them. I can't understand why people get so worked up about WCR not letting people what they're up to and boycott tours as a result. Seems a classic case of cutting of one's nose to spite one's face. Galatea will be done when she's done and no amount of news on her progress will advance that moment by a single second.

Yeah my mistake when Tesco are testing a new product prior to launch they publicise it fully.

I assume that you similarly all get angry when car companies test new car models disguised.

Sorry but I just don't get why WCRC are any different and can't get beyond it just being another excuse to slate them online?

Anyway WCRC don't need me to fight their battles.

Who was I slating? And who says I'm angry about anything? It's their engine, and since i have no plans to part with my money to ride behind any of their fleet, it's up to them what info they release, should they ever decide to release any, although last i checked, curiosity hasn't been made illegal. And as an aside, I would imagine any Tesco enthusiasts out there would be interested in Tesco stuff, just like railway enthusiasts being interested in, you know, railway stuff :eyebrows:

Personally, I find it very funny watching people get wound up every time someone's curious about a WCR engine.

So by all means, fight their battles for them if you want, just find someone serious to pick a scrap with.

I'd rather it was Scots Guardsman on test tomorrow. She's supposed to be working the Preston-Edinburgh leg on Day 4 of GB6.

Alberta maybe? Or maybe Galatea one side and Leander on the other with Alberta's numberplate.

Ah, yes. She could have her TOPS number on the smokebox and cabsides. Hadn't thought of that.

I was thinking more of the reporting system, which (I hope) can't be 'tweaked', rather than some interesting additions to the rust-preventing film that's applied to metalwork... ;)

AFAIK the TOPS number is shown in the cab, if not elsewhere on the locomotive

I heard they got Tornado stopped on the ECML when it was light engine under D&CR control, weird.
