Apology? On NatPres? Anyway, I'm still checking each pixel of your photo to be sure. So far the sky looks original.

Hopefully to be joined soon by 60163 (after the current small problems are resolved) 70000, 70013 and evenutally 34046. There's 777 too, at least this year, and several black fives have turned up from time to time. In the longer term, there should be 35018 and 35027 to look forward to as well.

Absolutely! I'm not complaining (See above), but it would still be rather good to see a Jubilee south of the M62 one day, especially bearing in mind that Leander and Galatea, even if probably likely to be sporting 10A shedplates were both based at Bristol in BR days.

Remember too that with no currently main-line certified "Schools" class, we Southerners need to be reminided how much noise some three-cylinder engines are capable of producing!!

Does anybody else have the feeling just to go phwooaar when you hear a 5xp working hard?

I will agree with earlier posts, the beat does sound ever so slightly off. Not as rythmic as 5690?

I would also love it to be on the June 1st trip as I am down at in Swanage for that weekend.
Anychance of 45699 and 45690 working north from Bristol, recreating the cross country trains they commonly worked.

Although it's not shown on UKsteam yet, I gather that this tour has been postponed to 21st Sept, presumably in the hope that Braunton will be ready by then.

Congratulations to WCRC and MR Smith in particular for completing this particularly difficult restoration and to mainline standards too. However, it's been very frustrating and stressful for enthusiasts not knowing what's happening so please, please can we have regular updates on British India Line's restoration in the future. An annual update at Christmas would be nice..

How long is a piece of string?

Considering this loco was a 1000 piece jigsaw with 250 pieces missing. Mr Smith and the lads at Carnforth need a big thank you.
On the letting the wider world know about progress. Unfortunately its his bat and his ball so to speak. I admire everyone at Carnforth in keeping their mouths shut over what has been a very well known project.

Sat beside the main shed in steam this evening. Not hidden just out in the open best chance anyone will get to see a WCRC loco in the yard. P1040726.JPG Looks like she may be parked for the night for tomorrows run.

It really is a beautiful locomotive.
I'm so glad we have some real LMS passenger engines emerging onto the mainline for year 2013 finally!

    Lovely image, thanks for posting.

Someone is bound to say that the cabside numerals are too close together,... but that would be nit-picking wouldn't it?

Superb job Mr Smith, with what was a total wreck.

Looks lovely! I think it's the lack of lining on the boiler that catches my eye, no problem with it just an observation.

Seems like this could be her actual liviery. There are a few differences from her trip out on Tuesday.

    • The running plate has been lined out
    • The cylinder cover has been painted red and also lined out
    • Lining has begun to appear on the boiler

I'm going to take a punt that 45699 will stay BR red until 5690 appears... and then in August that 1968 re-run trip will be 5699 + 5690 in LMS.... wouldn't that be nice ?

Is it a generally considered opinion then that 46115 will not be ready for the August double headed trip then ?

Wasn't there an acceptance in the magazine article about Leander that they would look odd together with one in LMS and the other in green, perhaps this is the compromise position?
