It's ridiculous this. I've just come off a walk on the moors (Upper Pennines) and the ground is quite damp when you go off path into the grass and the reservoirs are full to capacity whereas some weeks ago they were looking decidley on the very low side. On the down side there is quite a strong wind as the windmills were going full whack............which is unusual.

I'm sure it's the fault of the fragmented privatised railway that the weather has been so good. If only we had a suitable industry-wide body that could conjure up some rain...

Well that's buggered up my Sunday, although I was quite surprised Wednesdays jaunt actually went ahead.

NYMR Gala should be fun though, ♫ The moors are alight to the sound of music

Neil - try not to need covering every day - your sense of humour bypass is showing.

The 8F went all round Yorkshire in exactly the same conditions two days ago and so far as I am aware the coiunty is still standing

The only difference being the 8F heads north from York on East Coast turf, so one can assume its Pressure from East Coast on Notworking rail.

In the good old days this would have been put down to "The wrong kind of sunshine".

If there is a fire risk in the east, why not in the west, 46115 and 5043 are running today, there needs to be some sort of co-operation between network rail and the toc's. Such a waste of space in the hierachy, might this, might that!

For those interested, we have just seen stock leave carnforth, with the two 47's heading presumably to York.

Guess WCRC really outdone themselves on the allocation front....even I wouldn't want to go on that!
