Two shots at Barnes. Got there over an hour early, having photographed Tangmere / The Canterbury Belle at Clapham Junction earlier. Just as Clan Line was due to pass platform 3, a regular electric stopped on little used platform 4, where a few of us were positioned, blocking the view. A quick dash to the far end of the platform co-incided with Clan Line thundering towards us. Just happy to come away with a couple of pics in the circumstances!

Looking on ukSteam, this tour looks a complete mess. Apart from 35028 it is either box hauled or TBA.

Five minutes earlier - sunshine. Two minutes later - sunshine.

This is Clan Line in the pouring rain at Deepcut!

I can count double that amount of confirmed steam locomotives on UKsteam unless an A4 is also classified as a 'box' these days..;)

Yes, the paperwork received only a few days ago apologised for lack of timings - nothing to do with SD - and then confirmed Clan Line, UoSA, Tornado and Britannia as the motive power. This forum suggests that the last two are now out of the picture so, if true, something quite sudden must have gone wrong.

NYMR seems to he hogging the operational mainline loco's currently.. 60007, 62005, 44871 and 45407.. 3 of which could do an EWS turn.

Besides 70000 and 60163.. whats happened to 61994, it was down for this trip and Skegness that also got canceled.

No issues with 61994 for the Skegness trip. Reported as insufficient time to gauge route for 34067, hence the cancellation.

Apart from which 62005 and one of the Black 5's headed to Scotland yesterday, bang on time at Chester le Street last night.
60007 has just came back from a valve and piston exam, and winter maintenance, and as far as I am aware has not been mainline re-certified.
I would think a prolonged period of preserved running will take place before that happens.

Tornado was in light steam as I passed through Crewe this morning at 8.40 on 1Z90 so maybe she is being prepared for Monday...

Here’s my video at the start of Day 2. Taken on the Okehampton branch, near Newton St Cyres, and north of Tiverton Parkway.

From the A1 Steam Trust website :-

    "Air pump update
    Thursday, 09 May 2013 13:29
Update: Repairs to Tornado are well advanced with two airpumps expected to be returned from refurbishment on 17/5/13. The locomotive will then be tested and all systems checked before being made available for operations. We apologise to those affected by Tornado not being available for its planned duties on 13th and 16th May. Tornado's next booked duty will be 'The Elizabethan' on 11th June 2013."
