I was very impressed by this machine the other week on the SVR. The acceleration was something to be believed.

    1969 or 2009?

I'd love to see her back in the Westcountry - Dawlish Sea Wall, the Cornish viaducts, sitting in Penzance station - happy memories.

I was lucky enough to experience D821 on the mainline.

i well remember the astounding day that I came across D821 in the old Gas Works sidings in Reading shortly after being purchased...I guess that was more or less the dawn of Diesel Preservation.

    One of favourites Greyhound is!

I am hoping that D821 will make a visit to the WSR's GWR diesels gala next year, so can double head with D832, also in maroon! That would be a good sight... and sound!

and then make a return visit (went in 1994) to the GWR in the Cotswolds, excellent tunnel thrash!

errr that will do me for 2010 I think!

D821, the oldest preserved hydraulic, will turn 50 in 2010. That merits a starring role or two during the year. Like Nanstallon, I'd love to see it down in the far SW again.

that brings back memories, i can remember seing her with a hymec when going to london ,hanging out of an early mk2 window with a western in full chat feet away, good days
i remember the warships when they used to be on the waterloo- exeter services i used to live not far from woking and in those days it was a very interesting place to be, warships, croptons +tc's on salisury workings, occational 47s and on one occation a western on a freight , that used to be hymac worked

That is currently the plan but we will have to wait and see if it all comes together.

    Oh good!

Not very often that both are in the same livery!

Never had double headed warships for a good distance! (SVR Kiddy- Bewdley!)

I look forward to this event!

(the other visiting contender I think could be the wesmek!?..)
