    Yep, and a number of the lines coaches were delivered straight out of BR use in the early 80's behind a Class 25. Special workings have also taken place up to Swindon Quarry fairly recently (I'm sure one was a HST on consecutive weekends....)

    And all of it except for a very short stretch has been relaid or resleepered over the last 20 years.

    Very encouraging news, what with Peak Rail being reconnected to NR as well -

    'Midland - The Best Way' :)

    Edit: Not forgetting the North Norfolk too (MIDLAND & Great Northern Joint)

    I assume it does from their timetable. Leave Skipton 11.20 for the 8 minute ride and leave Embsay Brackenley Road at 13.31. That gives you time to catch the 12.00 from Embsay - Bolton Abbey & Return. If the bus is as unreliable as you suggest;
    1. I need to revise plans I had for visiting the area and
    2. that connecting train service is needed!

    No I do not currently volunteer
    Well You learn a little everyday, great news,fingers crossed, another visit pencilled in...
    Reading an article the other day about a railway down south asking permission to run trains along a (connected) branch serving a quarry which has only recently become disused.
    The working group we're puzzling out with the quarry owners (Lafarge) how it would work out if they resumed operations and , therefore, freight services in the same line
    Swinden is very much in use i know (How frequent are their services ?) but the working arrangement might set a precedent, and the scenario has many parallels
    The possibilities are endless if you could get permission to run on the Grassington branch and get a good rapport with the quarry....
    Merehead/foxfield style events ?
    Reopening to Grassington ?
    Construction of a Triangle at the Embsay/Grassington branch junction, Making Embsay the ideal stabling/ servicing point for Steam over the S&C. ?
