After months of exhaustive research the NRM's hugely expensive consultants have finally discovered exactly why Flying Scotsman's overhaul was beset with so many problems and delays. Asked to comment the Principal Reassembly Co-ordinator, a Mr. H. Simpson (who had many years of experience in the American nuclear power industry before joining the NRM) said "Doh - nobody told me there was ANOTHER green LNER pacific - it looked just the same to me." Things improved only after they painted it black.

I would put money on the A1/2/3/4 lineup happening, but probably not for a while...

What I would really like to see is 60103 coming to cornwall on a Royal Dutchy - An A4 has done it so an A3 must fit!!!

Possible confusion from the fact the DM described it, accurately, as an A1 but didn't explain that A1s were rebuilt as A3s and that Tornado is a continuation of the "new" class A1.

Some bloke posted in the comments section that the GWR was superior. Come on, who's going to believe that nonsense? Typical DM rubbish.

Surprised they didn't mention how Tornado is looking "all grown up" while Flying Scotsman "belied her years of heartbreak as she ventured out once again in a slinky black number"...

I would imagine not to imagine hopefully that Scotsman shall be ready for testing really soon. No rush, but still the East Lancs Scotsman event starts January 7. 21 days from now.

i keep on having this recurring dream, that the painters tasked with painting 60103 keep finding that every tin of BR middle chrome green turns out to contain Black paint, they order it again, and again, same problem, :):) the tender transfers get mixed up and end up on a black 5, so Flying scotsman has to run in black as NE 103

Shall we speculate on how many requests for ticket refunds there will be when the trains aren't hauled by 4472?

I thought it was a good move the ELR have actually advertised it as running in black during January.

Surely it has always been the intention that it would be run in on the ELR in LNER black?

If not, they may be able to use the 5305 lot's one that was being used with 70013, for the time being, unless that actually belongs to the NRM ?
