Hornby 38XX

    Anyone know when this is likely to be released ?, i know there's already a very similar 28XX out in GWR Green (2818 with the NRM connections) but given my steam fleets loosely based on a GW/GC joint route around the early 60's then it has to be a BR Black 38XX really.

    Should be fairly soon. I've been waiting for 34107 to be released for the last couple of months; Cheltenham Model Centre believe it is due at the end of this month. Is it me, or has Hornby been particulalry poor at releasing its re-liveried models this year?

    Cheers for the replies, the best i could find regarding a release date was 'released 2010'... not particularly helpfull!, hoping to see some sight of it at Warley, if not i'll probably pre order it from Rails of Sheffield.

    CMC was who I worked for and TBH they are usually reliable with their info! Trevor has been in the business for many years now and he is used to dealing with the timescales that both Hornby and the wholesaler give so if they told you the end of the month then that would of come from him (he is usually pretty accurate with his estimates on deliveries - excepting unforseen reasons not sure if that was who you spoke to but if you want the info from the horses mouth and prehaps better prices although the margins don't leave much room for movement then ask to speak to Trevor as he is the person who owns the place) and in that case if it isn't there by the end of the month then I imagine it will be on the next delivery following. That is of course assuming that Hornby haven't unoffically delayed the release (and that is certainly not unheard of!)

    Thanks for the gen, Peter. My grandfather's ordering it as his annual locomotive Christmas present, so hopefully it will arrive sooner rather than later. I'm not sure, but I think CMC was the cheapest, too, so he may order with them.

    Typical Hornby. The only locomotive of even remote interest to me released this month is 70010 'Owen Glendower', not 34107. Probably be January before the latter is released, so my grandfather will be happy (not!).

    The Hornby 38xx, rest of the 28xx, 'Schools' class No. 30901 'Winchester', WC No. 34107 and the late BR liveried Thompson L1 class are scheduled to be released this month. A bit late for most people's Christmas shopping, though!
