I take you actually mean it started last week with 62005 then joined this week by 44871/45407 and soon to be joined by 45231...

Maintenance for 45231? She was in fine fettle Saturday before last. Unusually ran tender first to Fort William as it was being filmed by the BBC on the return carrying the Commonwealth Baton from Glenfinnan to Fort William. The start tender first out of Glenfinnan on wet rail was superb and expertly executed, full marks to the driver.

The stock on this train does not appear to have been that in use on either train on 9th July. I thus presume this stock must have arrived at Fort William after that date and between the two dates stock has been moved from / to Fort William for mid-season heavy maintenance. Any one able to confirm?

37518 took a set of stock from Fort William to Craigentinny on 14/07, returning a week later. I assume it was for tyre turning. I don't recall seeing a Carnforth to Fort William move at any point recently.

Could the baton train prove a Jacobite swan song for 45231 if the owner realises his long stated intention to sell and with 45212 waiting in the wings as a certainty for future Jacobite use? Would be a grand way to bow out unless of course a future owner also provides it for Jacobite use.

Not been a bad couple of days up here so far! I'm still a bit disappointed I couldn't make the bash at the weekend, but hey ho, these things happen.

As mentioned above, the annual West Highland Bash ran last weekend using Jacobite locos and stock.

Sometimes, ever occasionally, things come together! A superb weekend of charters run by West Coast Railways produced some very memorable images, especially on the Mallaig Extension with 61994 “The Great Marquess” and 62005 “Lord of the Isles”. Would like to say a huge thank you to all support crew, staff at West Coast Railways and, in particular, those who ran the the event on the day. Roll on 2015!

To add company to 5944's and Steam_mads's recordings, here are some of my own efforts from the West Highland Bash at the weekend. Echoed are the thanks towards Network Rail, West Coast Railways and the various support crews for making it a memorable weekend!

All images have been resized to 1800 wide pixels, so hopefully shouldn't be either too large or too small on most screens!

I wish you hadn't posted these images as I was planning to attend but had to change plans!!

Going up there Sunday now for a few days.

Any idea when the next event will take place?

The penultimate weekend of the season next year, I understand. So not the last weekend in October, the one before. Though that could all change!

Thanks for that info. I thought that there might be one earlier in the year, beginning of season.

Bit of cloud around first thing today.

Usual thing though, clear skies around Mallaig.
