Question is--will they let it through Bournemouth in front of the 1802 stopper?

Seems they probably will, only about 5 down after all. 1W28 is hot on it's tail now however.

I'm fairly sure it doesn't. But I imagine that @Gladiator 5076 may confirm that.

Swanage turntable [ex- Ruislip LT Depot] is 50ft long - so, no, it can't accommodate a whole West Country. Engine and tender have to be turned separately.

Delay due, apparently, to rail tour passenger falling off platform and on to track at Swanage.
I was at Corfe Castle at the time so am only going by the messages being sent down the line, to other stations, for waiting passengers to be told the reason for train delays.
Ambulance arrived within 15 minutes it seems but haven't heard how the elderly patient was when taken into paramedics' care.
Hope they suffered little and get over the shock quickly.

Delays at Basingstoke. I believe from what I've overheard they want to get under the loco to check something. Trying to get permission at the moment I believe.

We’ve heard from a mate at Basingstoke the loco has failed, something to do with the lubricator

Such a shame this trip has gone down the toilet on the return journey. No one's fault mind you, just very bad luck. RTC & SLL did not deserve this.

That is sad news. Hopefully it is not too serious.

I did notice last week in one of the videos from her positioning move from Swanage with the Class 33 that her lubricator on the running plate was getting a fair bit of attention from the crew at one of the station stops.
Can she be stored at Basingstoke in a siding until the problem is sorted?

RTT still showing train at Basingstoke, , is it just the loco, and POB, that's been moved, into the reception siding ?

Whole train into Up Sidings. I imagine passengers had to make their own way home.

Can the passengers use SWT services back to London ? I should imagine that the ECS, could just be hauled directly back to Southall, via Reading

From past experience, if a tour is terminated usually it's for the Rail Tour company to arrange how their passengers get home and front the cost. Unless that's changed, just remembering old childhood memories from years ago.

It has happened before that RTC arranged for the local TOC, in this case SWR, to carry RTC's passengers.

Apparently knocking of motion heard whilst '28 coasting into Basingstoke water stop. Hence serious investigations, whilst taking on water, which led to the tour being cancelled.
Whole train towed slowly into Up Reception Siding (URS) by 47812 [coupled on the rear for ETS (air con., etc.)].
Depending what the problem is/problems are then as long as the bearing surfaces have not been damaged [overheating, etc] then it might be possible to steam or tow '28 to Southall where they have some facilities.
If these surfaces have been damaged, however, then road movement will likely be used to remove the engine from Basingstoke.
In the meantime, the stock and 47812 are (effectively) 'trapped' in the URS.
This stock might also have been rostered for the rail tour currently planned for Saturday (13th) to the West Somerset. But, without a working steam loco at Southall, it looks like it's either going to be diesel hauled or Caped.
Not a good outcome for all the hard work put in by Southern Locomotives Ltd and Swanage Railway teams over the past few months.
