At 06:02 on Monday, 20th August 2012 the new signalling arrangements controlled by Cambridge PSB were bought into use between Ely and Harling Road Signal Box. The four remaining mechanical signal boxes that had controlled this section of railway at Shippea Hill, Lakenheath, Brandon and Thetford had closed early the previous day.
